Reviews
From the moment we walked in the door, we were met with a delightful experience. Warm and comfortably lit, the entire space creates a high class, but unpretentious dining experience.
The seating is comfortable and cozy without feeling crowded.
The holiday decor is charming without being garish or disrupting the existing atmosphere.
And that is saying nothing of the food. We started with duck rolls, adorably plated and a generous serving which easily split in half so we could each enjoy it. The crispy duck itself perfectly paired with the flaky Roti wrapper. The brightness of the cucumber and the salty rich sauce cut through the sometimes overwhelming fattiness of the duck to make an easy-eating memorable appetizer.
The Pattaya noodles (sans green beans due to personal preference) stood out incredibly well. With a rich, mildly spicy chili pepper sauce and loaded with a variety of seafood offerings it couldn’t have been better for the price. Mussels, shrimp, scallops, and octopus are difficult to cook individually and every single one was cooked to perfection here. Wide rice noodles provide a perfect medium for the delicious, flavorful sauce, and the mound of shredded fresh crab meat on top brought it all together nicely.
The tofu and sauce of the Panang curry was also delicious, light on the peanut flavor, but robust and equally impressive.
Portion sizes were generous, and both of us dining left with a serving in a bag for lunch the next day.
The service was extremely quick, very kind, and attentive without hovering. She was very knowledgeable and didn’t make us feel rushed out, even after we had paid.
At the end of the day, I can happily recommend Rice Thai for some fine dining that feels high end without breaking the bank or making you feel like you have to dress up.
Walking in, I loved the feeling I got of entering someone’s home, which let me know that I was in for a true treat. O’ was I correct. First was the THAI ICED TEA which, seemingly simple, was quite delicious, balanced in sweetness and creaminess. The CALAMARI was light, crisp and cooked to perfection. The sauce was (I believe) a sweet-chili.
For my main dish, I had the VEGETABLE DRUNKEN NOODLES. Pure heaven! It’s one of my favorite dishes anyhow, but this one tasted like a home-cooked meal! Just. WOW! The portions were perfect and the spice level was authentic – this coming from someone who hasn’t been to Thailand (yet).
Dessert was pure ecstasy, as I had the MANGO STICKY RICE. To LIVE for! I HIGHLY recommend this and I was told that the FRIIED BANANA & THAI COCONUT ICE CREAM was just as incredible, so I will have to try that one during my next visit. Oh yes, there will be a next visit. So if you happen to see me there, don’t stare, say hi and let me know what you’re going to try. Happy Eating!
Plus, the sticky mango rice (photo attached) looked and tasted amazing!
Everything tasted fresh, and had amazing flavor. Medium heat was a great balance for heat and flavor.
Highly recommend the lemon ice tea.
