I was in town for work and decided to try this place. I often visit Baton Rouge about twice a month, so I get to try all the good places all over the city. I decided to order the chicken and sausage, jambalaya, the red Beans and rice plate, also a side of catfish fillet. Everything I ordered was brought back to the hotel and when I opened it up when I got to my room, everything was still really fresh and hot. there are a few other places that serve the same types. Addition, the area and I believe Rice and Roux holds their ground with all the other ones. For the most part, I did love everything that I ordered. the catfish was a little salty, and they didn’t give me ketchup like I requested. the jambalaya and the red beans and rice were good as well, however, I think they lacked a little bit of flavor. For the most part, I was overall, very happy with my food. I would recommend you trying this place at least once for yourself and personally myself I would order this food again in the future.

I order the large size seafood gumbo. It was delicious. I had some gumbo from another food place and it was literally ew. This restaurant knows gumbo! It was great, left a great Baton Rouge impression! The young lady in the front was very nice, very helpful. All the staff and very attentive.

Ordered delivery and it came quickly. I was very surprised with how much food I got for the money! $15 for a box full of jambalaya, red beans and rice, a link of boudin, and a container of gumbo! Great Cajun jambalaya, not a fan of the creole that so many places like to serve. Great experience all around!

My family ordered numerous items on the menu. The Pros: the red beans and rice was delicious, Catfish was fried and seasoned perfectly. Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya was 7.5/10 My sons had the chicken and sausage Jambalaya. Corn, green beans and red beans and they thought everything was good.
Before I state the cons a disclaimer, I am allergic to shellfish.
The cons: My wife said the crawfish pies barely had, if any crawfish and were bland.
I ordered chicken and sausage gumbo and told the gentleman that I am very allergic to shellfish. He stated the chicken and sausage gumbo was seafood free. I took 2 bites of the gumbo and immediately felt sick and ran to their bathroom to vomit. My wife found shellfish in the “seafood free” chicken and sausage gumbo. It ruined the whole experience.

Plenty of pork meat made it a delicious meal. The seafood gumbo had a great amount of shrimp and crab meat. We love Rice and Roux; we are never disappointed.

Day trip with my wife to BR. Decided to give this place a try. Fantastic! Affordable, good food and very friendly staff. They sell gumbo and jambalaya in large quantities for parties/get togethers. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. C’est bon!
