We wanted some Caribbean cuisine so we hit up Rice and Beans in Wesley Chapel. It was our third time there. We ordered Carne Fritas, Pionono, and Mofongo with Onion steak. We had some Tostones and Maduros along with rice and beans as sides. The food was authentic and portions were good, the onion steak was a little tough but other than that we enjoyed our food. The restaurant is pretty big and it looks like it turns into a dance club at night. The service was great and friendly. If you like Caribbean/PR food you’ll like this place…

I will keep this review short. You have made your family proud and you have made these two Puerto Ricans proud. Our holidays were a bit different this year so we didn’t do the traditional Christmas eve dinner. Weeks later we find ourselves in the area and you gave us what I was yearning for, you gave us comfort food in a beautiful setting. You gave us a great Puerto Rican family meal.

Overall the food was very good and I would like to come back, but the service can be improved.
I came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t very busy. We were seated right away and put in our orders.
I’m not sure how long exactly but it felt like a very long time for us to receive our orders, especially for a table of 4 when the restaurant was mostly empty. The server never came by to update us while we were waiting. By the time we received the food, which was an appetizer, a chicken and 2 Cuban sandwiches, the Cubans weren’t very warm at all.
The food was very good at least and the Sangria was delicious, but I’m disappointed in the wait and the service. I’d like to give it another chance but it this is typical then I would not continue to come.

Drinks were very good with a great presentation. Sancocho soup (Saturday and Sunday) was delicious. Arroz Mampostia was very tender and had bacon in the rice. Mofongo Camaron with the red sauce was very good, but for my preference the plantains were a little on the large and dense side. Not to take away from the overall dish just my preference. Yuca Fritas and the sauces were a nice addition but not needed. For the price this was a great lunch and worth the trip. Will be back and tell others about this.

First time trying this restaurante, place is nice but tables were wobbly we had to put napkins on the bottom to hold in place. ( we tried 2 tables both wobbly) Waitress was nice and honest with plate suggestion but would hardly come to the table. Food was 3 out of 5 because steak (bistec) was hard and dry so were the sorullitos, they didn’t have sancocho or rotisserie chicken which were 2 things we wanted to try.
Food took a very long time and the place wasn’t really packed. Overall if I’m in the area will stop in but wouldn’t drive down just to come to the restaurant.

The food was good the only thing it was cold when it came out. That was disappointing. Staff is great. Would I return? No. They have to turn the music down so I can hear who I’m with and if the food was hot it would be a 5 star.

We went with friends during lunch time, and the portions were generous and the food was absolutely delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. My server Ive listened was extremely friendly as well. They didn’t used to be open for lunch, but now they are, and I think we’ll be coming here often during lunch time. They also have different lunch specials depending on the day of the week.

Place was highly recommended, and I can see why. They serve some of the best Puerto Rican food I have had in the Tampa Bay Area! The empanadas were crispy and delicious, the maduros are perfect.

We came on a Sunday late afternoon, and it wasn’t really busy. It took them about 10–15 minutes to seat two people. Once seated, our table host took a while just to get our drink order. We ordered our drinks and didn’t see our host again for quite some time. We had to get his attention while he was passing by for him to take our order.

We placed our dinner order along with an order of tostones. The food also took a while, and while we waited, the server did not check on us even once. Again, we had to get his attention just to get water.

My boyfriend ordered the chicharrones de pollo; they were extremely dry and overcooked, and we never received the tostones.

This was my first and last time coming here. It was not a pleasant experience.

I visited Rice on February 19, 2026. At the time of my visit, there were only six guests seated in the restaurant. It appeared that either an employee or a manager/owner was sitting at the bar having a drink.

I would like to commend our server, as she was attentive and consistently checked on us, refilled our water, and asked if we needed anything. Her service was excellent.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not meet expectations. The appetizers took an excessive amount of time to arrive, and our entrées also took a very long time, despite the restaurant not being busy. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. The mofongo was dry and hard, and the skirt steak was extremely tough and difficult to eat.

For three meals totaling over $178, the quality and timing of the service were unacceptable. Given the limited number of guests in the restaurant, the delay and food quality were very disappointing.

Regrettably, this was the worst Puerto Rican dining experience I have had in the Tampa Bay area.
