Riccardo’s opened in May 1994 and is located on the Freedom Trail overlooking Old North Square and the Paul Revere House, Ricardo’s is one of the few remaining family-run, family-oriented North End restaurants offering fine Italian cuisine – the way it used to be.
Homey Italian spot serving pasta, salads & a variety of traditionally prepared seafood entrees.

Riccardo’s Ristorante in Boston offers a truly wonderful Italian dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and well taken care of, providing attentive and professional service throughout the meal. A special shoutout goes to our server, Kevin an awesome guy who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.
The food was absolutely delicious, full of rich, authentic Italian flavors, and clearly prepared with care. The cocktails were just as impressive, well crafted and a great complement to the meal.
Overall, Riccardo’s Ristorante delivers excellent service, amazing food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. If you’re looking for a great Italian cuisine experience in Boston, this is definitely the place to be.

Everything was so good and up to the expectations (which is rare to achieve!) it should be one of the top most recommended Italian restaurants in Boston but instead it’s more of a local secret gem!

We came on a whim while we were in the North End. The service was fine, attentive without hovering. The atmosphere was kind of strange. They were playing Top 40 music in English. I heard Jennifer Lopez, Florida Georgia Line, kind of weird for an Italian restaurant. No big deal, but then, all of a sudden, this “singer” comes in and starts singing what I can only describe as Italian Opera. BELTING it out. After she was done, she came around to each table asking for tips, with a bucket and her Venmo code. Absolutely tacky. Also, I could hear the host yelling at the staff to do things- move chairs, get this, get that etc. Not at all the vibe I was looking for.
I actually enjoyed my stuffed pork, and my husband enjoyed his chicken parm, but please, get rid of the singer.

Went here for my birthday and had a great time! I had a shrimp and scallop spicy pasta, which was amazing and the portions were huge. I wasn’t crazy about the drinks, but I did land on a red sangria that was pretty tasty. The tiramisu was small, but yummy. They let us bring our own cake. Singers came by and really livened up the vibe. It was great! I will say it was a little bit warm in there. They had the windows open, which I wish I would’ve knew that was the case because I definitely would have dressed differently. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. It’s north end so the parking situation is to be expected. If you’ve never been to Boston, the north end has terrible parking. We parked in a parking garage and it was a short walk to the restaurant. Can’t beat the location!

Our server, Brahim, provided excellent service! My partner ordered the veal and it was his favorite meal of our week long trip. We also had some great drinks. We really loved the atmosphere here. The music was not too loud. They had live music for a short time which was a really nice touch. This is definitely a nice restaurant and we would certainly come back again!

The host/manager was very accommodating to my group as our reservation did not go through and they were still able to seat 4 of us on a busy Saturday night with a short wait time. They also special made us garlic bread when we asked even though it wasn’t on the menu. The food was good, we did not like one of the pasta dishes though. There was someone with a violin coming through the tables which was fun, but he wasn’t very good and was really trying to get tips. Overall, the service and environment of the restaurant definitely made it worth it!

If you are considering Riccardo’s Ristorante on 175 North Street in Boston, DON’T.
We made a reservation for Saturday, 11/8, for 8 people at 8:30pm. When we checked in, they told us they were really busy and they would get to us when they could. Busy Saturday night, I can understand that. We waited 30 minutes before checking in again on our reservation and the host was extremely rude. Once they finally seated us, around 9:15pm, they took us upstairs and wedged us into a table right next to a table of 10, who were extremely drunk and rowdy. They screamed and yelled throughout nearly our entire time there and the restaurant did nothing about it. It was miserable.
The server we had was also rude. I’m assuming given it was a party of 8 where gratuity is automatically included, they were not concerned about providing excellent customer service, or even OK customer service.
Another 45 minutes after ordering our food finally arrived and it was mediocre at best.
We left around 11pm.
What a horrible experience. Not what you’d expect or hope for when spending $600 on a dinner and certainly not in Boston where there are plenty of other amazing options from which to choose.
May I suggest Umbria at 250 Hanover. We ate there the night before and the food and service were both impeccable. And the prices were very reasonable.

We were there 12/26/25 for a birthday celebrations. Everything was above and beyond fabulous. We were welcomed by everyone and seated at a great table. The main room is very warm and inviting The food was by far one of the best Italian meals all 9 of us had. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Tasty , fresh and hot and served all of us at one time. No one waited for a meal. We were able to bring a cake in to celebrate and the staff put more candles on it and served everyone. Go back to this restaurant without a doubt. Thank you all of Ricardo’s.

This place is great for the price. The staff was busy and attentive. They had great wine suggestions and the shrimp Alfredo was awesome. A lot of times shrimp won’t have much taste because it sucks. But this shrimp had tons of flavor. The Alfredo sauce and noodles were phenomenal. I loved the complimentary bread that came with olive oil and parmesan. My only gripe was the calamari app came out a little fast and a little under crispy for my liking. But it was still good.
Service was fast, but full disclosure, I was in town on buisness and sat at the bar. So that may have sped things up a bit.
Definitely get a reservation for larger parties.
You wont regret giving this place a try.
