Definitely a hidden gem in Lake Village. I always look for soul food spots wherever I go, and was so surprised to find one here. Thanks Google . The spot has been there for about 40 years, and still kicking. It was like going to your grandma’s kitchen. We were greeted by 2 Nice ladies in the front. They have more than hot tamales, and this was my first time having those. There’s a small buffet set up for the lunch options. And they have a menu for you to order other items. I wish they stayed open past 2. Prices are very reasonable. And yes I put hot sauce on everything.

This was such a great find in Lake Village. Just a few blocks off the main drag and worth the short detour. Ms Rhoda cooks a mean meal. We had the smothered chicken with rice, steamed cabbage and the beans. Wow! Then we had the fried catfish… WOW! It’s a simple place with just a few tables inside. We also had the tamales and the pecan pie. Don’t be dissuaded by the looks of the place when you drive up. It’s amazing. Definitely on our list of lunch places when we pass through town.

We learned about this place in our Road Food Book. Once again it did not disappoint. It is a very small place and don’t let the outside looks of it scare you away. The staff was very friendly, helpful and prompt. Our food was really good. We will eat here again if we are ever in the area

We came across Rhoda’s on Google Maps last year on our beach trip. At the time we were passing through on a Sunday and they were closed. We’ve been waiting all year for family vacation so we could try Rhoda’s. I knew it was going to be good as soon as I walked in. “C’mon in Honey,” Momma Rhoda said, smiling up at us from her table.

We visited the Saturday before Memorial Day. The lady behind the counter was very RUDE. We asked for tamales and were informed that they were sold out and had been since that morning. They weren’t busy so that wasn’t the cause for her treatment. We left disappointed and frankly disgusted. I’m not sure if we would try to go back or not.

This place is a gem. Don’t be intimidated by how it looks from the street. Get the burger, prepped on a very well-seasoned griddle, melts in your mouth. And don’t skip the banana pudding, best I’ve ever had.

I was next door getting my truck loaded and they are right next door to where I was and I seen they had tamales, and I LOVE ME SOME TAMALES! But when I went in, I saw the hamburger steak on lunch special and HAD TO HAVE IT! And I am SO GLAD I DID! Their food is SO YUMILICIOUS!!! I will DEFINITELY be back if I ever come through here again.

Heard about Rhoda years back but never made it. Finally did a few days ago and was not disappointed. Neither of us have been a huge fan of tamales so maybe that’s why we always hesitated but glad we finally tried them. These were moist and very flavorful! Others I’ve had are dry and too much masa to filling. I’d definitely go back.
