Retro Pie – Manteca Chamber of Commerce
Reviews
The atmosphere is fun and very retro, which I was happy to see. But I was even happier to see they’re using a deck oven instead of a conveyor oven. So expect delicious crispy undercarriages on your pies.
The food is really good. We got a Caesar Salad, a white slice pie (la Luna) and a spicy pepperoni (cali burn).
The dough and toppings taste fresh and the crust has the perfect amount of crunch. The basics are being done correctly and they aren’t trying to cover up poor crust and sauce by throwing a million toppings on it.
This is the closest a restaurant has come the pizza I remember back on the East Coast.
The owner was very attentive and passionate about the food.
I highly recommend everyone give it a try, and I hope Retro Pie stays around for a very long time. We need more local family owned restaurants like this in Manteca.
The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, and you can taste the care and craftsmanship in every bite. The crust strikes the perfect balance—crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside—while the sauce delivers a rich, well-seasoned flavor that complements the toppings without overpowering them. The menu offers a great variety, making it easy for both traditional pizza lovers and those looking for something more unique to find a favorite.
Service was professional, attentive, and efficient. The staff created a welcoming atmosphere and ensured everything was served promptly and exactly as ordered. Cleanliness and organization throughout the space also reflect the high standards this business maintains. Most certainly recommend
We visited Retro Pie in Manteca with a large group of 9, and we were absolutely blown away. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was incredible—totally 80s inspired with iconic artwork and music videos playing all the hits. The staff was incredibly friendly and handled our large group with ease.
The food was prepared perfectly. We started with the Caesar salad, which was well tossed with a fantastic flavor blend, plenty of garlic, and parmesan, and topped with house-made croutons. It was flavorful without being overdone.
We ordered a variety of pizzas, and honestly, every single one was a hit:
Tavern-Style Thin Crust: This square-cut pepperoni was the group’s favorite!
The Hula Pie: Cooked to perfection with a beautiful blend of sweet and savory flavors.
The Cali Burn: Just the right amount of spicy with hot honey and jalapeños on a pepperoni bowl landscape.
The real star here is the dough. We recently traveled the East Coast and usually find that California pizza doesn’t quite compare, but Retro Pie is the exception. The crust was so delicious that, despite having a group of 9 people, there wasn’t a single piece of crust left on the plates!
We also got to chat with the owner, LuLu. Hearing about her passion and inspiration for the place made the experience even better. We plan to visit Retro Pie every time we are back in Manteca. You won’t be disappointed!
Would highly recommend the Hula Pie.
The owner also helped me out, and she was very kind and friendly.
Will definitely be coming back!
