The meal started of with some wonderful chips and very fresh-tasting salsa – a good omen for what was to come!! This dish was the Enchiladas de Mole and it didn’t disappoint!! It was beautifully presented, the chicken wasn’t dry and the mole sauce was fabulous!
I also ordered the highly recommended Skinny Girl Margarita and it was very good!! Huge, and not too sweet…

Hi all, Ben here for another review of a local favorite! This time we are in Jasper IN at Retro Mexican Cuisine. On this outing, I ordered Chimmicurri steak tacos in the blue shell.
Let me tell you, these were great! The flavor was there and the steak was tender and delicious. The chimmicurry was also flavorful and slightly spicy.
We really enjoyed the meal……….but the blue shells are not natural at all. They do taste home made, but obviously dipped in blue die. I think my insides were blue for at least 3 days allowing me to celebrate my meal over and over again.
TMI…..yes, but that is the only thing I have to complain about. Actually it was more funny than anything. If you want festive mexican blue shells, dont worry, your fine. Just expect a colorful suprise.
Overall it was a great experience.

Amazing food! We had the shrimp tacos & classic street tacos (chicken). Can’t go wrong with their chori-queso and the habanero salsa. Must recommend for anyone visiting Jasper and craving authentic Mexican food.

Best salsa and best key lime pie at any restaurant ever. Every entree I’ve had has been delicious, and leftovers were just as good next day! Definitely worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. Oh and the 80’s music makes it the best atmosphere too! A+

Have been here a few times and such a good place. The atmosphere is peaceful and the service has always been great. We just ate here for Valentines and not only was the queso and guac on sale but they had a Dubai chocolate cake that was out of this world Highly recommend!

Very friendly staff and good food. The lunch specials include a soft drink or tea, making it a good value. They allow changes, such as I ask for fajitas to be cooked without oil, the veggies- peppers and onions – to be cooked thoroughly and I get double beans instead of rice. Corn tortillas are available too.
I will say the manager greets each guest as a long-lost friend. Compared to another Mexican restaurant my wife and I frequent, the rotating teenage hostess makes no eye contact, has no smile and just says “How many?”
Portion-size, other restaurants may offer a little more quantity on lunch fajitas. But if you’re budget-minded, getting a soft drink for free here at lunch is a good value.
I’m sensitive to chemical smells and I will say their table-cleaning solution is so strong it takes my breath away. Others have mentioned this. Having owned a commercial cleaning business, my guess is the cleaning product is concentrated and they’re not diluting it properly. Due to that and echoing noise we do prefer to sit outside whenever possible.
Great place overall. Food and friendliness puts this restaurant out front of Mexican food choices locally.

I found out about Retro from another Deputy when we were doing training. My bride and I tried it out and never looked back The food is fantastic, the staff is just as good and the environment is great. We went there for Valentine’s Day and they made it perfect for us. NONE FINER THE BEST

Best restaurant I have ever been to. Utterly amazing, I love everything about this place in every aspect. The food is made with La Pasión. And the prices are utterly amazing. Please, I beg you, do not change the prices. They’re actually affordable and an amazing bang for your buck. I could never get enough of this place. Service was great, and whoever is the cook needs to speak to Gordon Ramsay.

We drive about 3 hours total there and back just to eat at Retro. The food alone makes the trip worth it. However, the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and prompt. If you like dessert the fried icecream is hands down the BEST ive tried (which I order anytime there is opportunity) I am a huge foodie that loves to try different places and dont mind to travel a slight distance. I will say this is one of my absolute favorites.
