Where classic flavors meet a modern vibe Located in the heart of Tampa, Retro House is more than just a place to eat — it’s a culinary experience built on culture, craft, and comfort. Our story began with a love for sharing authentic Cantonese flavors and handcrafted coffee in a space that feels like home. With roots in tradition and a flair for creativity, we’ve created a menu that brings together the best of both worlds. At Retro House, we specialize in house-roasted coffee and freshly made dim sum, served alongside comforting Asian bistro favorites. Every dish is crafted with care, using high-quality ingredients and time-honored techniques passed down through generations.

I love how they have a separate entrance for pickup which made it super easy for us to pickup our order. The online menu clearly has the vegan items listed which we appreciated so much. My friend got the same udon and she loved it too.
While we waited on our food, which arrived in a timely manner, we enjoyed the retro and chill vibe, artwork by local artists, and our drinks, a Passion Mango Green Tea, a Vanilla Spice Latte, the Yuan Yang Latte, and a Purple Haze. The coffees and teas were all on point and so good, we had to order more to go! And since we do not get as great a Chinese food option in the Destin / FL panhandle area, we made a point to stop by the next day on our way out of town. If you’re in Ybor, or local area, give them a try! You will not be disappointed! Wish the owners the best and we can’t wait to come back on our next visit so we can stop back by for good drinks, great eats and wonderful service.
If you want it a touch shorter or more casual, I can tweak it.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a beautiful woman with the warmest, most genuine welcome. She immediately asked if we’d been there before, and when we said it was our first time, she took the time to explain everything about the place.
It’s an incredible coffeehouse that not only serves fantastic food, but also radiates positive energy and good vibes from every corner. The space is vibrant, comfortable, and just makes you feel happy to be there.
We started off with lattes — my girlfriend ordered the Flower Child Latte (pistachio and rose) while I went with the Honey Pie Latte (honey and cinnamon). Both were absolutely delicious!
Then came the food — and wow, we were blown away. We tried:
Bolo Char Siu Bao – a soft, sweet baked Hong Kong pineapple bun filled with savory char siu pork
Kung Pao Chicken Mochi – crispy yet chewy dumplings filled with chicken, peanuts, and veggies in a flavorful Kung Pao sauce
Steamed Char Siu Bao – the classic fluffy bun filled with tender char siu pork
Each dish was bursting with flavor and honestly brought me to my happy place.
The staff was quick, friendly, and simply amazing from start to finish. This is definitely going to be one of our new go-to spots, especially whenever we’re in Ybor.
Love this place ❤️
Many local art on the walls, our server is one of the artists and was so sweet and explained to us about their cafe. Definitely would come again when coming to Tampa and would love to go to one of the event days!
