We are from out of town and stopped here for some coffee and a bite to eat passing through, and we absolutely LOVED it! Aubry was extremely welcoming and friendly and the coffee and the wrap and bagel was probably the best we have ever eaten – extremely fresh and delicious. And the atmosphere was relaxing and cozy – I highly recommend this place – will definitely be back to try their grain bowls and açaí bowls! Thank you Aubry

This small coffee shop is a hidden gem. The coffee is outstanding—rich, smooth, and clearly crafted with care. Their food is just as impressive, with fresh, flavorful options that make it more than just a coffee stop. The staff are warm and genuinely friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere every time you visit. The owner is incredible—personable, attentive, and clearly passionate about making this place special. A must-visit spot if you love great coffee, delicious food, and a cozy, friendly vibe.

If you’ve never had an açaí bowl before, Retro on 8th Street is the place to try one. They’ve got such a wide variety of toppings that you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Aside from the açaí bowls, my personal favorite is their avocado toast on two big pieces of sourdough bread. I like to try their different energy fusion drinks, but they’ve got a variety of coffee options worth trying as well. Each staff member is incredibly friendly and their service is top-notch. Check it out!

When I entered, I challenged the barista to a duel.
I was apprehended by the cheese guards and thrown into the cheese pit (a real thing in Wisconsin btw).
I battled with ratmen for days and nights, subsisting on a drip feed of cheese from a leak in the rocks, until the full moon shone the stairs to freedom.
When I finally crested the rim of that provolone pit, Queen Aubrey welcomed me into the caffeination chamber, and flashed a warm, defrosting smile.
She asked “what do you want to drink?”.
“Milky Americano!” I shouted, and the grand vizier exclaimed that the prophecy had been fulfilled!
Finally, I took my well earned (and fully paid for) sip.
The delicious flavor and creaminess melted my tongue melted into cheese (a real thing in Wisconsin btw) and my heart was shackled into a lifelong thirst for the Retro 8th.
It’s pretty good.

I stopped in on a whim. The name and garage doors spoke to me. The vibe is living room meets modern-retro diner with eclectic wall art. Family friendly with table top games and couches.
I ordered a coffee flight and was pleasantly overwhelmed with smooth, sweet, salty, and earthy goodness.
Aubry fashioned up next months special flight while Clara and I had some pleasant conversation.
Next visit, I will try one of their healthy and hardy Acai bowls!

This place is an absolute gem! We were visiting Manitowoc and were attracted to visit this coffee shop because of the flight of lattes. We were able to chat with the owner and had a delightful time! Oh and the latte flight did not disappoint! The flight menu changes monthly. The hot items were delicious, my husband had the Chipotle Aristotle on an everything bagel and it really hit the mark! I had the retro eighth Acai bowl and I won’t change a single thing about it! It was fresh, delicious and a real treat for breakfast! We will definitely be stopping in again!

I have been driving past this place since it opened. It was time for a try. I find this place very comfortable. Nice environment and comfortable seating. There are chairs at the bar and about 6 four tops. I’m not a coffee drinker. When I was asked what I want. I said “tea…Earl Grey…the barista picked up the Star Trek reference. She was very upbeat and efficient…and iyota wašte. I’ve had their croissant and breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. Today they had s’mores cookies, outstanding! Available is a plethora of smooties. Protein shakes and sandwiches. Any items can be modified. The breakfast burrito comes with bacon and avocado slices. Neither are on my normal diet. No problem, easily adjusted. Their tea choices are extensive. I’m a tea snob…and the tea is really good. My wife would have loved this, as there are many, many coffee choices. You can order a flight of coffee of 7 different kinds.
My final day, is that this is a very nice place to patronize. I can see going here 3 times a week. Hoka hey!! A great place for vegetarians. Chicken and bacon for the carnivores. Smoothies and and modified menu items make it vegan possible.

My review is limited in scope but I felt compelled to share a few honest thoughts. I am the type of person whom outside of necessity or social situations, mostly refuses to buy coffee/tea, yet Retro has been become a weekly(sometimes more ) ritual. I had a couple poor experiences in the beginning. But hey, they were still learning and I am always willing to try again, although it took me longer than I hoped for various reasons. Everything has become exemplary. The rare ability to grow, correct issues, and and improve while continuing to evolve is a testament to ownership and management, and the dedication of staff, making it a place I love to give my business to. They have staying power.
I don’t strive far from my regular drink(I’m lame), Matcha Oat. I have had food on a few occasions; sandwiches and a part of an acai bowl, all was great. I do recommend it as a place for drink and food.
Everyone is friendly, your visits feel like more than patronage, a part of community. A welcoming place for all ages and demographics with a unique aesthetic.

Fantastic food. Friendly service. Lots of variety. I ate outside at one of the picnic tables in parking lot/patio with my doggy. It’s in the shade in the morning (nice for warmer days). No cover if needing shelter from sun or rain.
