Being born and raised in Louisiana, I was so excited to have a place to be able to enjoy a little bit of home. Pros and cons here. The food, tasted just like home. The spices, the consistency all around tasted great! The service was absolutely wonderful! However, when you walk in, its a bit confusing as all you see at first is the daiquiri machines. I wasn’t sure I was in the right place. I ordered 2 crawfish pies and 2 boudon balls. Just wanted to see how authentic it was before ordering a meal. Everything tasted good but the quantity/size was suprising, especially for the price. The crawfish pies were mini bites and the boudin balls were just a bit bigger than the size of a golf ball. For $22.00 I feel a bit cheated though. Back home the boudin balls are the size of softballs and the crawfish pies are the normal size of a meat pie. If your from Louisiana you’d know what Im saying.
I do recommend this establishment for authentic taste of Louisiana southern food as long as your’re willing to pay a high price for the small portions. (Pics attached)

I spent 20 bucks and an hour waiting for some food I could make at home.
I know that’s crazy stuff to say especially for eating out, but for that much I would have expected way more.

I spent 8.60 on a grilled chicken wrap
6 on 2 sliders (no fries)
and nearly 4 bucks on a refillable coke

Don’t get me wrong, the chicken wrap was pretty alright and the atmosphere was good, but my expectations were way higher than what I got.

I waited 30 minutes after ordering to receive two cold sliders. the buns literally felt like they were out the fridge, which sucks especially because the actual meat was delicious.

I then waited an additional 30 minutes afterwards for the chicken wrap (WHICH WAS GOOD but very much overpriced)

To be fair and frank, the place was somewhat full, I did come alone, and there weren’t any specials for the day.

Overall, I think the food I got was not up to the amount they’re charging. If you were to go, bring a friend to talk to during the wait.

We ordered a variety of food. Including 3 kinds of boudin balls, shrimp po boy , gumbo, red beans and rice and catfish. The boudin balls are all homemade and about the size of a cue ball. Absolutely great taste. All the food was really good. The service was top notch by the manager and the owner himself. We plan on visiting again to try more of the menu. They also have lots of daiquiri and I hear they are all wonderful. I just don’t happen to drink.

I always drive by on my way home and wanted to give it a try. I waited 37 minutes for food (I’m patient so not upset about that) but got home, opened package of what I thought was going to be Shrimp sliders. Nooo shrimp at all, I couldn’t believe it. How does that even happen? The etoufee looked as though it was frozen then defrosted. I gave it 3 bites but no thanks. I’m so disappointed, I won’t be back. I will say the daquiri was good but I just spent $37 dollars and got a good daquiri out if it. I’m not mad, it’s my bad, live and learn.

Stopped by to try Retreats and had great conversation with Mo. Being from Lafayette Louisiana and from the Baton Rouge area, we had quite a bit in common from a family roots standpoint. The food was good and hot, very fresh and quiet delicious. Looking forward to stopping in again to try more dishes, I had chicken and sausage gumbo and Jambalaya! Both were great!

Stopped by Retreats New Orleans Style Restaurant as recommended by a friend and I’m soooooooo glad that I did!!

I ordered the catfish basket and I’m still dreaming about those nuggets a day later!! The catfish was fried to perfection with the precise balance of crispness on the ends, well manicured seasonings while cooked through in the center.

The fries were very well-seasoned and they complimented the fish nuggets very well. The price was also nice, especially in comparison to many restaurants with the same quality.

Based on all of the other food, I think I may have gotten either a bad batch of the red beans and rice or it was intentionally seasoned blandly for the customer basis in the area.

And did I mention the daiquiri’s that are exquisitely blended to help you enjoy the beverage while achieving a tipsiness for even seasoned partakers of spirited beverages!

They have flavors for days… ranging from mango and peach to ultimate drinks such as the TKO and traditional New Orleans Hurricane. They have so many flavors but you can also mix and match!!!

Had a chance to meet and chat it up with the owner, who was extremely cordial and conversational. He didn’t try to rush the conversation and was very relatable. You can tell that he loves what he does- which is always great!!

The employees in the store were also very friendly, fast and outgoing. And I loved the extra touch of having the charging power bank station to charge devices! They’ve thought of everything!

The entire experience was phenomenal! This is a great place for girlfriend socials or homeboy meet-ups! I will DEFINITELY be returning very soon and will make sure to bring my appetite, thirst and a designated driver!! This may be one of the BEST hidden gems in League City and it is absolutely worth the drive!!

Found this establishment in September now we go couple times a month and whenever we have out-of-town guest with us we take them there. Today was one of those days my sister from California and Las Vegas came in October and as we were passing by to go too our house today they said to take them to the last place you took them to which was retreat. They love the Boudin balls , catfish, the whole vibe and atmosphere. Could’ve used a little bit more sausage or meat in the gumbo to much rice, same issue we noticed last time but the rue is good. We love your place and the staff are great as well. Every time I go in there and I’ll I go two or three times a month Dine in and take out. It is always clean, which I love. Absolutely, love the daiquiris.

Food was good. Both my dad and I got a Shrimp Po Boy, he got his with Gumbo, I got mine with French Fries. The Sandwich and sides were all very good. My dad thought the gumbo was a bit thin, the french fries were absolutely amazing with their double-fried deliciousness. Shrimp Po boys were very good, though with fewer large shrimp than some other shrimp po boys I’ve had. Overall good meals. We had the Crawfish bites and cheeseburger egg rolls, they were okay but nothing to really write home about. All around a great experience with very good food.

We had lunch on a Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised by how good some of the food was. The Fried Catfish may be the best in the area, but their tartar sauce was more mayo than tarter and not worth using. I got the cup of Gumbo as a side and it was passable for gumbo, but not a good representation of New Orleans or Cajun style gumbo.

We ordered several appetizers. The Meat Pies were fantastic – genuine Natchitoches style meat pies. The Original and Pepper Jack stuffed Boudin Balls were excellent! If I had to guess, they are sourced frozen from one of the renowned roadside haunts along I-10. The Alligator dish was a minced meat ball that was heavy on seasoning and breading: I wasn’t impressed with the texture, but the flavor was good. I won’t order them again…

My kids had the Mozzarella Sticks and loved them. The Hush Puppies were quite good, but I also suspect they are frozen. And last, the Creole style Jambalaya is what I would expect in a New Orleans style restaurant, but my buddy said it was just OK. And lastly, the Lemon Drop daiquiri was tasty, but not too boozie.

Overall, it was nice. Good food, comfortable seating, and nice staff. We will be back!
