This restaurant offers a memorable medieval atmosphere and well-prepared cuisine. The salad and mushroom soup were especially enjoyable, and the salmon from the children’s menu was very well received.

Service was courteous, though the level of attentiveness felt slightly uneven at times. One practical challenge was the lighting — the dining room is intentionally very dim (by candles) to match the medieval theme, but it made it difficult for us to clearly see the food, which affected the overall comfort of the experience. While some guests may appreciate the ambiance, I personally prefer to clearly see the food.

Overall, still a charming and atmospheric restaurant worth visiting, especially for its unique setting.

We visited here on New Years Eve, they were happy to let us just have drinks. The atmosphere was wonderful and the way the hosts dressed up was delightful. They were very attentive and made sure we had a good time. We didn’t eat here because we had already booked elsewhere. The drinks are on the pricey side but they do have lots of staff and a big building to run. It is also partly an immersive experience. We planned to just have one drink but stayed for two as it was such a nice atmosphere.

A restaurant with a very interesting interior, decorated in medieval style. And the staff is dressed in the same style. There are several restaurants in the same style in the Old Town, Estonians seem to have medieval nostalgia.
A bit dark, lit only by candles. Expensive, especially the venison, but it’s something common for the area and for Tallinn in general. Very crowded.
The staff is OK, friendly.

We had a delightful experience at the restaurant Old Hansa, where we enjoyed traditional Estonian cuisine. The salmon, meat soup, and cheese plate were expertly prepared, showcasing the rich flavors of the region. We also had the chance to sample various traditional beers, including a dark beer and a unique honey and ginger brew. Each sip complemented our meal perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend trying their traditional dishes and local brews

The ambience is very authentic, bringing you into the medieval times.
We took grand shef’s feast and oh my god, that was feast for our bellies indeed. So many different flavours and very filling, I’m glad the dessert was very light, we barely made it:D We paid ~170eur with drink pairings for two persons in February 2026, which is very pricy, but here you pay for the experience, it was worth it in my opinion.

The service is simply wow: employees not only dress medieval, but also speak according to their character, making the experience very immersive. Every dish in the chef’s feast has a legend that you will hear while the food is served. The guy who served our table on 14.02 13:00-15:00 and the guy who was standing outside on 15.02 ~14:00 really made our day (both days:D) and created welcoming environment, so we will make sure to return here during our next visit in Tallinn. The place deserves that.

First of all – come hungry. No, seriously, skip lunch. And maybe even breakfast. We had the feast for 2 and those three courses were more than enough food – and my wife and I are hearty eaters. The quality of the food was excellent – and we can tell, because one of our hobbies is medieval role play and so we’ve had many expertly prepared feasts in the last 20 or so years. But be warned – they used different spices in medieval times and while many dishes may look familiar, the taste can be special. But for us, everything was just delicious. The service was great, too. It started by a servant washing our hands and every piece of the meal was later explained in great detail. You can also order as much of everything as you want, if you run out of something (which happens to us with the wonderful dark bread …). The atmosphere is very cozy – the only light sources are candles on the tables. It can be tricky to read the menu (to decide which beer or wine to have), because the room is only very dimly lit. The whole experience is not cheap – feast for 2 people, with drinks and tip was 160 Euro. But it was worth every cent.

What an amazing experience! I ordered the mushroom soup, which came with bread, nuts, and butter—it was unbelievably delicious and felt like a complete meal on its own. Every detail stood out, from the warm and attentive approach of the waitresses to their politeness, the pleasant music, and the overall atmosphere. Everything was simply perfect.

The atmosphere took you back to the years of the past and the décor added to the whole experience. The entertainment was authentic and most enjoyable. The staff were attentive and very entertaining. A great experience for a long lunch or dinner with friends. Definitely recommend a visit while in Tallinn

This is my dream restaurant. It’s fully lit by candles and has a medieval theme. It’s super spacious – 3 levels. Attention to detail is well appreciated. The bathrooms especially! At first I couldn’t find the toilet paper and soap! Yes it’s slightly pricey but worth it in my opinion. Staff are incredible ! After all, this is a whole experience in itself. Best birthday feast ever.

The medieval theme restaurant and Estonian food. The vibe was so great and it gave you the feeling of stepping back in Estonian medieval time. The decoration, staff, spoon & folks, and drinking cup,, or even restroom.

I ordered the fish plate and non-alcoholic drink of apple and ginger served in a mug. The drink was served hot and good in such a cold weather.

The fish plate giving the feeling like what Medieval people ate- a bit of bread, herring, salmon, some veggies, with a artic crab leg, with some whipped butter. I loved th crab and fishes were fresh.

I enjoyed the meal a lot and the medieval theme food was creative ever! It even added up fun and joy to people meals.

P.s. I loved the restroom though especially when I did hand washing 🙂

Highly recommended to those who want to experience good food and how the food told the history of local Estonians in medieval time.
