El Moro is a true Cozumel treasure. Our server Ray was attentive, funny, and super efficient—maybe because his parents own the place and were keeping an eye on him! But seriously, this is a warm, family-run restaurant where everyone pitches in, and it shows.
My wife had the Chicken Tuculeño (pictured), and I had the Chicken Madrileña—both were absolutely delicious, authentic, and served in HUGE portions. This after starting with the garlic soup which was amazing. We were running late and decided to skip the start of the Seahawks game at home but the staff found it for us on their TV and even cheered along with us.
Can’t recommend this place enough—great food, great people, and great atmosphere. Don’t miss it!

We have always loved the experience of El Moro and are very glad we returned on this trip. Ray and Bernardo were very kind, food was delicious, and we enjoyed our entire experience.
We talked this morning how we need to return before heading home. We like supporting locally owned family restaurants further back on the island and El Moro fits the bill for this.

The food was excellent. I highly recommend their beef burrito, imho, the best item on the menu. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. My Spanish is terrible but they had no problem with that. Prices were fair. The building has a ton of history and photos to take in. We were on Cozumel for 8 days and we visited Restaurante El Moro for dinner on two separate days. I highly recommend visiting them for any meal. Thank you!

4 adults. Food was phenomenal, fast but not rushed, and still shadowed by the service. I work in hospitality and I strive to be 1/2 as good as Ray. Came feeling like a guest, left feeling like family.
Definitely worth the extra 5 minutes off the normal, worn-down, tourist path.

Been coming for several years since 2018. Almost nothing has changed and everything (i.e., food, service, ambience, prices) remains excellent. Two of us shared a single order of the following: chips (fresh with touch of oil); pico (great flavor and kick); fried plantains ( a dessert-like appetizer); guacamole (perfectly balanced); and, shrimp fajitas (ginormous portions and outstanding flavor). All of that plus 4 beers was $50. We walked out stuffed but very satisfied. A place for locals and tourists.

We have been coming to El Moro for years. You get consistently good food at a decent price. The atmosphere is what I would call Mexican eclectic. The neighborhood looks a little sketchy, but nothing is farther from the truth, it just not there to please the “tourists”, although they do cater to visitors and all the waiters speak perfect English. This place is worth venturing a little off the beaten path….

We loved absolutely everything… the food is delicious, the staff is the most friendly staff we had ever met, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, welcoming, and laid-back. For 2 people’s feast we paid £27. We will visit anytime we are in Cozumel 🙂
