P.S. remember to call ahead or make a reservation!
The food blew me away — great ingredients, proper Hunan flavours, fast service, cosy vibe, fair prices, and a team that actually pays attention. Totally worth a visit.
Hunan cuisine isn’t well-known in Spain, but it really should be. It’s one of China’s “Eight Great Traditions” and famous for its punchy heat from fresh chilies. ️ The smart thing CHILA does is let you choose your spice level for every dish (from mild to full fire), which is perfect for anyone who’s not used to Hunan heat.
We ordered the braised pork knuckle with fermented mustard greens, stir-fried Chinese eggplants, noodles with meat, and a cold starter of beef slices with chili, peanuts, and coriander. Everything was spot on.
I lived in China for eight years, and I went yesterday with my malagueño husband — his first time trying real Chinese food (no arroz tres delicias, no rollitos), and he loved it too.
I’m writing this long review because Málaga needs more places like this. No one paid me, no freebies — just the genuine opinion of someone who’s been craving real Chinese flavours here for ages.
One small suggestion for the owners: help first-timers by giving a few recommendations, because dish names alone don’t always explain much.
Veggie friends, take note: Hunan vegetable dishes are amazing. Even the “simple” cabbage is delicious.
They’ve only been open a week, and I honestly wish them the best. I’ll be back very soon!
One thing to note is that spicy actually means spicy here. We took the mild versions and it was quite hot compared to what mild means elsewhere. If you like spicy food you will love it 🙂
We ordered their chef’s recommendation: beef, cauliflower, cabbage. Very tasty! One tip: if you can’t handle very spicy food, order non or little spicy.
The restaurant also has a very stylish decoration, and the service is great!
We definitely will come back again.
Nice ambiance, warm staff, and the food was flavorful. Portions are enough bigger, but overall a great experience. Definitely coming back.
