Hidden gem in Covington KY. Off the beaten path but soo worth the drive. Authentic Guatemalan food. The chips and salsa are the best I’ve ever had. Strong Margarita and friendly service. On the weekends you can order a whole rotisserie chicken dinner. Great place to eat.

Modest, honest little restaurant with solid, real food and home cooked taste. The atmosphere is an easy place to talk, but also entertaining. I found the food portion and quality to be a good value. Free parking. Very nice people.

Had a baseball game down the street and needed a quick bite. Ordered 2 steak burritos and a chicken. Both were stuffed exactly what I expected. Hot and delicious

I stopped in for Sunday lunch and margaritas. At first, I sat at the bar. I got this god awful smell of rotten urin. I turned and notice the restrooms were right behind me so I moved to a table as far away as I could. Needless to say, the smell was restaurant wide. Very gross.

The service was just ok. I think there is definitely a language barrier. The place is run by Guatemalans and they didn’t speak English well. I know some Spanish so we made it work. I ordered a jumbo margarita with reposado tequila but that’s not want I got. I got a watered down, nasty tasting drink, no salt on the rim. After that, I just ordered a shot and some water. When I got the bill, the single shot costs more than the jumbo margarita!!! The food was ok. I order chicken fajitas with pineapple and corn tortillas. The homemade tortillas were fell a part when I picked them up and had very little flavor. The salsa was “just ok”. Nothing to write home about that’s for sure. I do not recommend and will not be back. I still have a hard time getting over the stench…

I will be back! I had a hard time with this review because I wanted to give 5 stars.

I wish the owner the best and he is off to a great start. I’d like to see him work on improving his recipes and the general upkeep of the restaurant.

Worth going. Guatemalan food. I hope to return and be able to revise my review to 5 stars!

The chicken enchiladas had an off taste, so much so that I spit it into a napkin. I didn’t finish the food. There was also flies inside the restaurant. Came home with stomach pain. Never again.

I had such a wonderful lunch at Restaurante Chapin this afternoon! There is ample parking, a good sized dining room and lively music playing over the speakers. The decorations were so pretty and I loved the murals. Their chips and salsa were tasty. I loved the pocket of air in their chips. I think they were double layered tortillas. It was so satisfying!
The talent of the folks at Restaurante Chapin didn’t stop at their paintings; I ate tacos and they were amazing! I got shrimp, chicken and barbacoa for my proteins. The barbacoa was so juicy and the chicken was also juicy with the most flavorful spices or marinade? Idk! I feel the chicken taco is the best way to gauge the cook of a place and theirs blew me away. I think it was my favorite. The shrimp taco was delightfully light with its lettuce and tomato. Their on plate sauce is so spicy, please be ready if you’re trying it on its own. With a dab on my taco or tortilla chip, though? Pure, fiery deliciousness!!

Every time we come to Chapins we are welcomed with the nicest greeting. The chips and salsa are definitely fresh and delicious. Every main course is the best I’ve had!!! So much like a meal in Mexico, authentic. BTW, they make the best margaritas in the tri state area as well.
Thank you for always taking such good care of us

I try to patronize this restaraunt at least 1 time a week. From the moment I walk in, I am immeresed into a beautiful culture. I am greeted by the most friendly and accomodating staff I have ever encountered. Every single item from the menu that I have tried has been simply delicious!! If you want amazing authentic food as well as a mini vacation from the day to day hum-drum, this is the place. *It doesn’t hurt that the margaritas are out of this world!
Definitely a 10 out of 10 for me!
