Fantastic Dinner – enjoyed the à la carte 3 course menu:
Appetiser: Croquette of Suckling Pig & Hand Dived Scallops. Eventhough they provided the Red Autumn Salad by mistake, which was not to my taste. The scallops were amazing.
Meat: Red Leg Partridge & Sika Deer in Pancetta.
Dessert: Soufflé of Piedmont Hazelnut & Black Fig “Pastilla”
The food was sensational (except salad) and a fabulous experience.
We had different wines for each course. I did not feel the wine justified the price.
The service was very efficient and professional.
Overall a wonderful experience.
This was our first experience in a Michelin rated restaurant. It did not disappoint. The ambiance was wonderful, the service was impeccable, and the food was outstanding. Everything was served so elegantly. We enjoyed every minute of our evening.
I highly recommend dining here if you’re looking for a Michelin star restaurant. You will not be disappointed!
– Food was DELICIOUS and ELABORATED: amuse-bouches, starters, fish dishes, meat dishes, desserts and final petit fours with our Irish Coffee. Everyone in our party of 6 was delighted (including the most picky eaters).
– Service was PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGEABLE. The restaurant manager greeted us when we arrived, made sure all our needs were met throughout the evening, and personally bid us good-bye, even posing with us on the porch for a picture. The entire staff was perfect as well: coordinated, discrete, they ensured we had a memorable time.
– Atmosphere was great as well. They invited us to sit in the comfortable cocktail lounge where we studied the menu while enjoying our drinks. In the restaurant, our group sat at a round table perfect for our party size located in a cozy corner, where we were able to have conversations in a private manner.
I came in expecting the level of precision and hospitality that a two-star restaurant is known for, but the service—especially around wine—was shockingly sloppy and made the entire meal feel off from the start.
We ordered two bottles for dinner: a white to begin, then a red afterward. Instead of pacing it properly, they opened both bottles at once, and I didn’t realize until it was too late. Then things got even stranger: the server poured tasting glasses for both wines, but only poured me a taste of the white. He then took the two tasting glasses back to the kitchen and didn’t taste the wine with me at the table. That is extremely odd and unprofessional—especially at this level—because if there’s a flaw or issue with the bottle, that moment is exactly when it should be addressed at the table. I genuinely cannot think of a reasonable explanation for doing that.
After the tastings were taken away, I had to ask just to receive a taste of the red. When he returned, he brought the wrong style of glass for the wine (for a Syrah), despite the restaurant has their own line of wine glasses that I was thinking if getting some but obviously didn’t. He then tried to decant the bottle, and I had to stop him before he poured the entire thing in.
A manager (I assume) came over, apologized, and brought the correct glass, and they did switch my server—but the pace and tone of the meal never recovered. Everything felt rushed, and the attention to detail didn’t improve much.
The food was decent overall, but very little stood out besides a foie gras course with pineapple. By the time my main arrived, I was already ready to be done—and unfortunately the beef and potatoes were barely warm. Dessert sealed the night in the wrong direction: they offered a glass of sherry from the pairing menu with a very dense chocolate tart, and it was one of the worst pairings I’ve had—an extremely heavy dessert with an extremely viscous sherry, when something brighter/lighter to cut the chocolate would have made far more sense.
By the end of the meal I was pouring my own water and wine, and I finally asked for the check just to leave.
This was, without question, the worst two-star service I’ve ever experienced. I left genuinely confused how this place earned (and keeps) a second star.
One thing that left a negative impression was the service. There was a man, possibly the manager, who was walking around and engaging warmly with customers at almost every table. Strangely, he skipped our table and another with young Asian couples, despite us making eye contact and there being a quiet moment. It felt uncomfortable and left us wondering whether we were being intentionally overlooked. For a place of this calibre, you expect warm, inclusive hospitality — and unfortunately, that part missed the mark.
