Enjoy Bavarian hospitality at its finest at Maximilians. Even though you’re in the center of Berlin, you feel like stepping into a true Bavarian restaurant. The warm atmosphere matches the hearty food and the wide selection of beers. Vegetarians and vegan food options available, but the focus is on meat dishes. Friendly and fast service. As it is a popular place, reservations are recommended.

Maximilian is a Bavarian-style restaurant in Berlin. We didn’t have a reservation and the indoor seating was fully booked, so we were seated outdoors near the back entrance. Luckily, with heaters and good food, it didn’t affect the experience at all. That said, if you want to enjoy the live music inside, it’s definitely best to book ahead.

For drinks, we had hot chocolate and a MÜNCHNER DUNKEL beer — very smooth and refreshing. We were a bit greedy and ordered quite a few dishes for two people.
The Wiener Kalbsschnitzel (Viennese veal schnitzel) was well fried, not greasy at all, and paired nicely with cranberry sauce, which helped cut through the richness. The potato and cucumber salad was light and refreshing, though not particularly exciting.

The Halbe Haxe (half pork knuckle) had an outstanding crackling — easily one of the crispiest skins we’ve had, perfectly crunchy without being hard. Unfortunately, the meat inside was a bit dry rather than tender. The sauerkraut was chopped into small pieces instead of thin shreds and was very enjoyable.

We also had two white sausages with a pretzel and sweet mustard. After missing out on them in Munich (since they’re usually a breakfast item), we were happy to finally try them. The sausages were boiled, mildly seasoned, and had a lovely parsley aroma — light, delicate, and highly recommended.

Service was generally good, and it was understandable that staff were a bit stretched given how busy it was. Overall, a satisfying Bavarian food experience.

During our three-day visit to Berlin, we went twice for dinner and once for a few beers. Even though the restaurant was full, the service was really good. I can recommend the sauerkraut dish, it was really delicious. The second time I had the minced beef meatballs and mashed potatoes. The dish was good, but not as good as the sausage. The atmosphere was good and we had a great time there

This place was absolutely amazing. Walked in without booking or even looking at the menu and it was just amazing. The staff were caring and the food was just amazing. Can’t say anything bad about the place. Sat for 3 hours drinking and eating and had an amazing time.

This Bavarian restaurant lies in the very heart of Berlin. Close to Checkpoint Charlie and right next to Friedrichstrasse. Interior is typically German and staff uniform is very traditional! Food was great, made from good proteins and tasted well! And beer was exceptional! This was my second visit and I’ll definitely come back

This place has amazing real nice warm inviting feel when you walk in. We had the pretzel with cheese ball, schnitzel, meatloaf, and one of the apple struessels. Everything was really good the mashed potatoes and the potato salad were both tasty. The schnitzel was perfect. Very tender and cooked just perfect. The meat loaf was a big slab and the fried egg on top real complimented it. The dessert was a great way to end it all. The ice cream had a wonderful rich vanilla flavor and it paired great with the warm sweet apple flavors.

Overall a pleasant experience and would come back to try more dishes.

We visited this restaurant after a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at, as it was very close.
We were really very pleased. The food was very tasty. We tried Käesespätzle, Wiener Schnitzel, and salad. The prices are a bit high for us from Greece, but I think they are normal for Berlin. The staff was helpful, friendly and answered our questions with kindness and patience. We highly recommend it!!!

This restaurant was highly recommended, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Love the Bavarian cuisine and the service – really friendly and helpful. The portions are big so we had to share, which also mean we get to try various dishes. Overall, great food and experience.
