It’s a popular seafood restaurant. We booked it ahead of time. We shared a seafood platter between the four of us. It was really fresh. Each of us have a different mains and desserts. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will visit again.

We had a delicious meal here last night at reasonable prices. It is obviously very popular and well known with lots of locals so you would need to book, especially for a terrace table. We shared a calamari salad starter which was excellent, I had delicious and perfectly cooked fresh sardines with lovely crispy chips and my partner had a lovely fresh John Dory that the waitress presented then filleted for us. The service was friendly and efficient. We’ll definitely be back.

Nice variety of starters to share — well-presented and full of flavor. For mains, the rabbit leg was a bit dry, but the beef cheeks with gnocchi were absolutely delicious — rich, tender, and perfectly paired. We finished with a pavlova, which was good for sharing, though not particularly memorable. Overall, a solid meal with a few standout dishes. Would come back for the beef cheeks alone!

This remains my absolute favorite restaurant in the Liberation neighborhood. I make sure to visit every time I am in Nice. They serve excellent local food in a classic French bistro style, and the service is always warm and welcoming.
If the weather is good, definitely ask for a table outside. It is the perfect spot to watch the market activity at lunch or simply enjoy the local atmosphere at dinner—with very few tourists around. If you are dining inside on a colder day, it has a cozy, authentic feel. The seafood is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommended.

This is a new favorite. Seafood Linguini was delicious and a generous portion. The mussels and clams were fresh. My husband also enjoyed his dish ( plancha). Staff were friendly and very engaging.
For reference, we came on a Wednesday for lunch

Food is really delicious, portion is very generous and there is so much seafood with the linguine. However, I have tasted a few grits/broken shell which let down the experience a little. Service also became slow after 8pm simply short of staff. I wanted coffee / dessert after my main but waited 30min and no one could come to me despite I tried to use eye contact and even put my hand up so I decided to get the bill instead. As I walked out, I counted there were 50 customers and only 3 waiters (Wednesday night). Hope the management notice this and improve by providing more resources.

Lovely little restaurant, just outside the city centre but within a short walk. I was there with a colleague last week, we both had fish (mussels and tuna steak), both dishes were good, service was kind and attentive, while prices were good considering what we had. The wine list was not huge but with some good options and competitive prices.
Surely recommendable.

If you like small, local restaurants within urban atmosphere- this is your place with seafood.
I’ve visited La Gauloise first time in March and was impressed with their tuna burger , classic french recipe mussels and came back in July.
My calmari salad, as a starter, was simple but yet so rich in flavour due to the perfectly cooked calmares. It was a great warm up for the main course.
Tuna tartar in a Japanese style was not killed by the marinade, I was able to taste of the fish and combine it with Japanese accompaniments such as wakame and marinated ginger as per my taste.
They provide a decent wine cart with a local Provance wines and other French wines, while sitting on a busy street (terrace) you blend a simplicity and fullness of the meals with a vibrant urban atmosphere of South of France.
