Fun place for lunch with shared plates. Recommended dishes – hijiki, fried chicken. Gyozas were ok but not crispy, eggplant a bit too sweet, okonomiyaki was mushy/not crispy, would skip the pork belly if going again.
The restaurant felt a bit cold inside(January).

This restaurant was a mixed bag. Some food items like the fried chicken or the sliced ponzu beef were absolutely incredible, to the point that we got multiple orders. Items like the pork belly or gyoza were good, but nothing to write home about. The cold marinated eggplant was just alright and the fried calamari was extremely overcooked and rubbery.
The weirdest thing was the wait staff which felt borderline controlling for no reason. They refused to give us actual menus until we ordered drinks. Then, after putting our first order in, we asked to keep 1 menu as a point of reference for what we order or if we wanted to order more. They would not let us keep a menu. Like why?
Ultimately it was a decent experience, but just a bit bizarre with just ok food. The only reason it got a 4 instead of a 3 was because of the fried chicken to be honest.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Izakaya Nozomi, situated right behind the shopping district and Old Town. We wanted to sit outside, however had to settle for indoor seating to avoid the weather forecast for rain. We ordered the hiyayakko (silken tofu with ginger and sweet soy sauce), yaki hotate to mango (seared scallops with mango, yuzu and salmon eggs), the devil onigiri (grilled rice ball with spring onion and tempura crunch) and maguro kakuni (simmered tuna and ginger). The soup in the tuna was delicious, beautifully complementing the ginger. The onigiri was crisp on the outside and soft inside, cooked to perfection. The silken tofu was paired with a thick and sweet sauce, and tasted delicious together. The service was attentive and quick, and the staff were very helpful in answering any questions about the menu.
We never tasted this style of Japanese food before and left with wanting to try the other dishes. Highly recommend this place when in Lucerne.

I had a great lunch at Restaurant Izakaya Nozomi, and it’s a gem worth visiting. The bento box with tempura shrimp was a standout—crisp, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Paired with a refreshing cold beer, it hit all the right spots. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff despite us arriving near the end of lunch service. The outdoor seating was a lovely touch, offering a relaxed vibe, while the ample indoor seating ensures plenty of space. Tucked just one street back from the bustling shopping district, the location strikes a perfect balance of convenience and calm. Highly recommend for a satisfying and laid-back dining experience!

A lovely Japanese izakaya spit in the heart of Lucerne. Service was excellent and gluten free menu was provided. Nice outdoor seating for summer months. Food was all excellent. Favourites of the table were the peanut tofu, pickled cucumbers, chicken karaage and sesame spinach.

Don’t be fooled by the unassuming premises, this is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to eat at. The menu is not overly crowded, and they don’t offer sushi, choosing instead to focus on the lesser known Japanese cuisine of warm dishes, with the welcome addition of some cold entrees. Everything is as fresh as they come, with outstanding ingredients and perfect cooking. You can also find some rare delicacies like grilled eel, which I found to be absolutely perfect. The home made gyoza are spectacular. The prices are honest and in line with the Swiss average.

Cool atmosphere and friendly service. The tapas ordering system was fun and we enjoyed all the food we ate including the pickled turnips, fried chicken with yuzu mayo, and scallion onigiri. We also had the curry vegetable gyoza which was good, but we had ordered the pork gyoza so it was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. Would definitely love to go back and try more of the menu! There were so many options!

Expected the food to not be that great but we were really impressed! The place was really packed but the food came out really quickly and we really enjoyed the meal. Price was decent as well considering where we were.

Each course we had was good, and I would recommend any fried dish as the batter is very light. Fast service. Nice and quiet outside. Great experience overall.

I went there in July and it was fantastic! I keep thinking about it even now! If I didn’t live in Geneva I’d be coming all the time. The food was tasty, the beers were good and the staff was so nice. We really had a good time and keep a great memory of Lucern thanks to this restaurant.
