Easily one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. The food was absolutely fantastic, the interior was very memorable, and the service was decent as well.
Potato rosti was cheese overload, exactly what I like and it was delightful to start the meal with. The baeckoffe was excellent, my waedele was sooo savory and hearty, and the seafood choucroute was more bland but in a good way – just solid, simple flavors. The interior of the restaurant is obviously very striking and we got to sit on the upper level which provided excellent views of the entire place. All in all, I can’t recommend this place enough – if you’re in Strasbourg, definitely make a reservation and come and enjoy yourself!

One has to try a Choucroute Garnie when visiting Strasbourg. We enjoyed ours at Gurtlerhoft with a rather large portion. The variety of meats and sausages was excellent. The choucroute itself was rather mild and very tasty. With portions like that for lunch there is no need for dinner.

We ate here in early October and enjoyed the meal very much. We were the first ones there when it opened and had our pick of where to sit, but it quickly filled up as we sat there.
For appetizer we ordered a big, beautiful salad with a piece of puff pastry on top. Yum! For our main meal , I had the Coq au Riesling, and my husband had the pork knuckle. Both dishes were very tasty. Our waiter was very friendly and patient, even as the restaurant become quite busy.

The food is amazing and the restaurant is beautiful, but the best of all, was finding a place where actually exists an idea of customer care, regardless if you’re a foreigner.
The waiter was kind and helped us translating several things in the menu that were not in English, always with patience and no rush like most of the places at the town.
Plus the food was crazy tasty.

We booked in advance from Australia 6 months before. We did not want to miss this spot. We shared a meal, as they are big (well we think they are). Had to leave room for dessert. Creme Broulee, outstanding. Thank you Isabelle, we had an incredible table location.

If you are a tourist, don’t miss this place. Book in advance, it is very crowded. The food is delicious, the service is good and the staff is friendly. If you are not sure about the menu, ask and you will be kindly guided. You may have to wait a little for the waiter but keep in mind that it is a big restaurant. … The creme brulee is divine!

We didn’t enjoy Cordon Bleu that much. The onion tart was good. The pole was okay, medium, not that interesting.
The atmosphere is nice to hangout and authentic.

This is a unique place to have a meal–in a many-centuries old stone-vaulted former wine cellar near Strasbourg Cathedral. Nicely atmospheric. The food was very good, but the service was considerably less attentive and slower (even for Europe) than we liked. I think this was due to a number of large group tables at the time, which soaked up the majority of the attention of the staff. Otherwise all was worth the trip.
