I stayed at the hotel and had a French kaiseki dinner.
I was expecting something French, but the food was completely sauceless and not at all French, no different from the side dishes you get at your local bento shop. I was disappointed. I was also shocked at how unreasonably priced the cheap alcohol was. I will never stay here again.

Hakuba is over-touristed.
It was clear that it was busy season and they were short-staffed, but despite that, the service was polite and we were able to enjoy our meal at our leisure.
I think Japanese people like this kind of atmosphere.
