Love this place. Order a burger medium rare, get a burger medium rare. Empanadas are the best around. Everyone who works here is so NICE! Lots of events (trivia, open mic, Valentine’s, etc.) and offer deals each day of the week. Great for families (even have a kids play area!), couples (lots of quiet nooks), or solo sitting at the bar (always good service and it’s in it’s own quiet corner). Highly recommend!!!!!

Oh. My. Freaking. GOODNESS! Every. SINGLE. Thing is absolutely delicious! Stopped by for breakfast while waiting for my son to get twists in his hair at the amazing Sefa Salon down the street. BEST DECISION THIS MORNING! Thought I was getting the nachos just as of quick appetizer to taste and then box up to save for later. Nope. The nachos were next level delicious! I’ve never had nachos with such flavorful, black beans and such well done queso…the guac and salsa were perfect and the chips too. And I love that they took the time to LAYER the cheese and toppings throughout rather than just add them on top like most places do and you end up with so many nachos that don’t get toppings. Does layering make every bite flavorful! My “quick taste” turned into a full on wolfing down, which is why so much was eaten before I took the picture.
The breakfast was delicious too. How do you make shredded hashbrowns this flavorful? Somebody is doing something right in the kitchen!! Oh and the bacon is the thick cut nicely smoked good kind. This place is a gem that many people may already know about. I got something from here probably about a year ago, but I got it to go. Sitting down for the full experience as well worth it. Highly recommend.

You can tell that the food was made to order and they use fresh ingredients. The wings and the Philly cheesesteak were delicious. I ordered the super smash burger and it was pretty good but it was just too sweet for my liking. They have a pretty good selection for adult beverages. We tried the orange crush and it was really good but it was on the strong side, which we were good with. What I really liked about this place was the fact that they have a small playing area for the kids. It really helped with our 2,4, and 6 year old kids. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area again.

The food was excellent. The omelets are French style. The hot and spicy was medium spicy and quite good. The strawberries and the Cream waffle was covered with fresh strawberries. It brunch, so we also had cheese dip with blue chips. Also quite good.

Stick to Pot Pies, Skip the “Empanadas”

I really wanted to love Restaurant 198, especially since finding a place with a variety of meatless empanadas is usually a win for a vegetarian. Unfortunately, the “excitement” I felt upon arrival died a very slow death.

The Service: Non-Existent

It took 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. When someone finally approached me, it wasn’t “Table for one?” or “Dine in?” but a cold “How can I help you?” as if I were lost. Once seated, the neglect continued. I had to flag the waiter down just to tell him my food was cold and to ask for the bill.

* Greeting: 0/10
* Customer Service: 0/10

The Food: A Culinary Identity Crisis
When the plate finally arrived, the fries were stone cold. But the real heartbreak was the empanadas:

* The Crust: If you like authentic empanadas, look elsewhere. This was essentially a pot pie crust. It lacked the proper texture and fry of a real empanada.

* The Fillings: I tried the Shrimp and the Bean & Corn. Neither could save the dish. Between the presentation and the lack of flavor, “disappointed” isn’t a strong enough word.

Final Verdict
If you’re looking for a pot pie disguised as Latin street food and service that makes you feel invisible, this is the spot for you.

For everyone else who knows what an authentic empanada should taste like: avoid the madness and go somewhere else.

It is a good place to have breakfast. They have a classic breakfast named after their restaurant. I got an omelette with veggies and asked for mushrooms as an add-on.
They add coffee if you finish yours, but it wasn’t very hot (but I really need boiling temp, so it is for you to decide).
They customized my omelette by adding mushrooms to it. The amount of cheese was decent, and I’m glad they did not add salt to eggs because it tasted just right with the cheese! Loved it. They serve salad (just greens – nothing else) with the omelette, but there was not enough dressing in my opinion.
The total bill for two whether coffee and orange juice was $40.

This is a nice place. Locally owned from what I understand. I had the chilaquiles with the green sauce and it was great! I’d get again and again. The waffle was a little underwhelming, I’ll give that a 3.5/5 meaning slightly above average. I got it because I saw someone else with the apple pie waffle and it looked amazing. The apples were more red delicious than Granny Smith and I need that tart/sweet. My son got the cinnamon toast French toast and it was delicious.

I recommend trying this place and I will again when I visit next. The pancakes looked good!

We went here last minute for a Saturday brunch. We sat down as soon as we walked. Food was good. I got the sizzling steak and peppers. My friend ordered the French toast and said it was the best she had had. I don’t recommend the pancakes they turn into mush. Overall great place and definitely recommend. Service could have been better as they were not busy and we felt like they forgot about us at times. Check out more reviews by Taste to Takiya!

Wow, some really unusual vegetarian and vegan surprises here. Impossible beef and potato empanada and vegan cheese papusa with curtido and salsa. Impossible bacon burger is a gem, too. Very comfy place with a kids play area with toys. You can order carry out on tablets up front, very convenient. I love this place!!!
