Authentic restaurant in Ranson, WV – Facebook

We went to El Rancho Mexican Restaurant in Ranson last night. It’s our favorite Mexican restaurant out of them all. They never disappoint.

I was in town visiting my sister when I noticed a nearby Peruvian spot called Corner of Flavours — and without hesitation, I told my husband we had to check it out!

We started with the Papa a la Huancaína, and then both of us ordered the Tallarín a la Huancaína con Lomo. Let me tell you — the flavors of that dish instantly brought me back home to Peru! It was rich, comforting, and incredibly authentic.

The owner, Cesar, was so kind and hospitable. It truly brings me joy to see this little hidden gem serving delicious Peruvian food right here in West Virginia. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I had a great lunch food experience here today. I have always loved Peruvian food. I had the Ceviche (Super fresh, great sauce, and a huge portion) for an appetizer….the. Followed it up somehow with the Lomo Saltado. My son loves Lomo Saltado so I got it so I could be the first person to tell him whether to go get it. I must say…It was top tier Lomo Saltado. Tender Steak, perfectly crispy fries (that came from fresh oil), and the sauce was perfect (great flavor and not overly salted)…the veggies were sauteed perfectly. I can’t wait to work my way through the menu. Go check this place out!

Since I am Keto, I thought I could get some baked or rotisserie chicken, but there was nothing like that on the menu. The take out menu is on a kiosk, with pictures, but was hard to determine how it was cooked. A helpful young lady was there to answer questions, but not to take my order. I found out that they only fry the chicken. Hmmm, I have had fantastic Peruvian chicken other places that was amazing and done rotisserie style, so I was confused, but decided to try the fried half a chicken. It came with 2 sides, none keto, so I just got a couple that I thought my daughter would eat. $20 netted me a half a chicken that was so overcooked, that I could hardly swallow it. Furthermore, it looked as if someone had eaten half my chicken before throwing it into the fryer. There was no value on the plate and the food was just awful. I will not return.

A Delightful Discovery of Peruvian Cuisine at Corner of Flavours!

After a series of culinary disappointments in the Ranson/Charles Town area, my wife and I stumbled upon a gem that revitalized our taste buds and reignited our excitement for local dining. “Corner of Flavours,” a recent addition to the Ranson food scene located at 404 N Mildred St, is a vibrant celebration of Peruvian cuisine, offering an array of dishes that are as authentic as they are delicious.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the clean ambiance and the melodious backdrop of good music set a welcoming scene for what was to be an exceptional dining experience. The menu, brimming with enticing options, left us spoilt for choice. I opted for the “Arroz Chaufa with Shrimp” – Peru’s unique take on Chinese fried rice. The dish was a harmonious blend of bell peppers, green onions, red onions, garlic, soy sauce, and, generously, shrimp. It was not just a meal; it was a journey through flavors that are testament to Peru’s culinary ingenuity. The portion was hearty, satisfying without leaving any room for want.
My wife chose the Chicken version of the Arroz Chaufa, and her delighted expression with every bite spoke volumes of its quality. Both dishes showcased the fresh ingredients and the skillful balance of flavors that “Corner of Flavours” prides itself on.
What stood out, aside from the food, was the level of service. The staff was notably friendly, eagerly assisting us in navigating the menu and making selections that would suit our palate. This attentive service, coupled with the quick preparation of our meals, made our dining experience seamless and thoroughly enjoyable.
Though the prices might be slightly above average, the culinary excellence and portion sizes justify every penny. It’s a small price to pay for what is arguably the best food we’ve had in quite some time.
We visited around 3 PM, enjoying the luxury of having the place to ourselves. It’s an experience I would urge everyone not to delay in discovering. “Corner of Flavours” is more than a restaurant; it’s a culinary retreat that my wife and I plan to return to multiple times a week.
In a world where true culinary craftsmanship is rare, “Corner of Flavours” stands out as a beacon of authentic Peruvian cuisine. Don’t wait to try this place out, or you’ll be kicking yourself for missing out on this exquisite dining experience. We’re already planning our next visit, and we hope to see this delightful establishment thrive and become a cornerstone of the Ranson dining scene.

As a Peruvian, I can say this is a decent peruvian restaurant, food tastes good, and servers are very approachable and helpful. They offer some of the most popular peruavian dishes, and their flavor and quality are as good as in Peru. There are not plenty of options and fancy dishes if someone is looking for a 5 stars peruvian cousin experience. This is not the place, but it is very decent, and as I have already mentioned, flavors are good

I ordered lomo saltado, and to my surprise and disappointment the fries were served on the side. Traditionally, the fries are mixed in with the dish. Other than that, it was pretty good. The papas a la huancaina were great.

Decent Peruvian flavor but servings leave a lot to be desired especially for the price. Ambiance isn’t very welcoming either with extremely loud music.

I love Lomo Saltado and the first couple times we went there when they first opened it was great. Since then it seems the portion sizes have gotten smaller and for $18 it just doesn’t seem worth it anymore

I ordered the fried chicken. The description states white meat. I received one piece of “leg thigh” which was dry and flavorless.
