A good spot to eat before seeing a show or after a matinee in Playhouse Square. Can be very busy so reservations help. You can walk in from the street where reservation desk is or from inside Playhouse Square. We had dinner for three on a packed night and the food was prepared well, service was spotty but friendly.
This is a good choice for a convenient bite with a show without breaking the bank.

So, first my reservation got cancelled out of the blue so I had to call back. Then I ordered the salmon bowl and the rice was a glob that I could not separate, and my sister got the shrimp scampi that had no flavor and she needed salt and pepper to taste. Then we ordered the cheesecake for dessert that was supposed to have blueberries, strawberries and raspberries on it and basically we got the equivalent of a frozen boxed cheesecake with 2 bar cherries on it. I will definitely not come back here. If you want a drink at the bar, those were good! Moscow mule, and espresso martini were good! The atmosphere was also great. It is so pretty in here but the quality of food is just no good. So sad!!!

I don’t understand some of the poor reviews. I had a delicious meal and fabulous conversation at Republic Food and Drink. The appetizers were seasoned well and the entrees were done well. 5 people at the table with 5 different proteins all cooked to our liking. I had the half chicken and honestly couldn’t continue in the conversation because I was so engaged with my food.
And when I asked for more sauce the sous chef came out and lathered it!!! Mmmmm

We had a great time at Republic. Keira and Derek were amazing! We sat at the bar before a playhouse show – the service was fast, and friendly. Keira recommended the Rosemary Gin Sour which was fab! Great spot if you want quality food that’s fast in the Theater District!

We came in right before the show last night after running late from a previous meeting and we were blown away by how fast our server Tracy got us in and out as fast as she could. The dining experience was fantastic and we were even able to get dessert! Thank you we will be back just for her 🙂

Went here before a show last weekend and was thoroughly impressed! Not only was our server great, our food was fantastic! We got the nachos and the cauliflower apps and a salmon salad for dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. We finished the meal off with an espresso martini. Absolutely will be back!

This little restaurant was perfect. We just needed appetizers before the show. Our server Tracy was so gracious. The pierogies and cheesecake were delicious. Very nice atmosphere. We will be back.

We had an amazing dinner before seeing Hamilton last night. The new chef and menu items are excellent, service and atmosphere were top notch. My husband had the shrimp scampi and I had a short rib. Recommend highly!

A typical drink and dinner at the full bar before most of our Broadway Series show nights, always leads to fun conversations with other patrons and the staff with thoughtful and timely service. This past stop before seeing Hell’s Kitchen we were pleasantly surprised to have the fairly new chef come out and present us with a complimentary appetizer version of his mussels and pasta dish, minus the pasta and a few other changes. He wanted us to know that he is all about customer service and cared much about what we were looking for in the menu. He wanted and genuinely accepted the feedback and I must say the mussels were delicious. He definitely cared and we were delighted to talk with him and hear his vision. Wishing Drew Carver and The Republic Restaurant continued success. There is a great need for restaurants to flourish in the theater district. A note: Will always miss having Andy behind the bar. He always made us feel so welcomed, but also enjoying meeting new staff.

We were early to our show and decided to stop here for dinner. I have to say this place was disappointing. We ordered the NY steak and it was a bit rubbery. The salmon was okay, but they asked me if I wanted well done or medium. I said medium and it came out well done instead. The drink was the only thing that was fine. Overall, the food isn’t bad, but it was overpriced. I guess you pay for the presentation rather than the taste. I wouldn’t come here again.
