Had Patrick and Darian as our waiters. They did an absolutely amazing job. The food was out of this world. I got the tomahawk pork chop which was ridiculously sized and delicious. Wife got the new york strip which was HUGE and she loved it. The sides we chose were great and same with the appetizers!!! Best part (other than the pork chop) were the prawns!!! They are worth it! Will definitely be coming back again!!!

Mikaela was an excellent server. She was personable, always on the ball, so sweet. She made the whole night. We’re in sales and kept saying we would steal her in a second. She knew about the food, was fully upfront and honest, and bonded with us. She even folded napkins every time we stood up from the table. I highly recommend dining here but especially with her a server.

My wife and I love a truly great steak. Over the years, we’ve dined at premier steakhouses from coast to coast—north to south—throughout the mainland U.S., the Hawaiian Islands, and even overseas. So when I say we know a great steak, it comes from experience.

A few months ago, we discovered a local Louisville steakhouse that completely won us over. We were so impressed that we returned three more times in the last six months. I genuinely thought we had hit the jackpot.
When our son came in from out west, we couldn’t wait to take him there. As excited as he was, he surprised us by saying he knew an even better spot—Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse. No way, I thought. So we agreed to a friendly “Steak Challenge.” Friday night was our pick—and it was fantastic. Tonight was his choice.

Let me just say this: Repeal did not come in second. It didn’t even come close to disappointing. It was exceptional.
First, the service. Our server, Thomas, was simply outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, preparation methods, wine and cocktail pairings—everything—was second to none. Professional, attentive, and effortlessly polished, he made us feel like royalty without ever being overbearing. Thomas is the kind of person who elevates an entire dining experience. He represents the restaurant with excellence, and it’s clear he takes immense pride in what he does.

Now, the food.

The bread arrived warm, soft and buttery on the inside with just the right crisp on the outside, finished with a delicate touch of sea salt—an incredible start. For appetizers, we ordered the Truffled Bucatini and the Oak-Fired Heirloom Carrots. Both were absolute must-haves, layered with flavor and perfectly executed.

Our sides included Yukon Gold Whipped Potatoes, Baked Mac & Cheese, and Thick-Cut Peppered Bacon. The potatoes were light, velvety, and rich without being heavy. The mac & cheese was indulgent, featuring a blend of cheeses topped with beautifully browned breadcrumbs. And the bacon? Savory, substantial, and unforgettable.

Then came the steaks.

In all my years of dining—across cities, states, islands, and countries—these were the best steaks I’ve ever had. That’s not a statement I make lightly. I won’t claim there isn’t another great steak somewhere out there, but based on our personal experiences, this was the pinnacle.

So, the final score in our Steak Challenge:

Our longtime favorite: 8/10
Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse: 10/10

Service, atmosphere, quality, and overall experience—Repeal excelled across the board. Honorable mention once again to Thomas for making an incredible evening even better. We will absolutely be back.

Thank you to the entire team at Repeal for delivering excellence at every level. And special thanks to the owner for assembling such a remarkable staff—they are what make this restaurant truly outstanding.

Had the most perfect experience with server Miranda! She was friendly and kind and quite observant to exactly my pace this evening. She made recommendations and checked on me often. The beet salad was small yet delicious-truly my favorite. The filet with bone marrow butter and broccolini and twice baked potato were so flavorful- I almost finished it all!
The meal was complete by the excellent Cabernet red wine that was also recommended by Miranda. A true 10 out of 10 and can’t wait to come back!!!

We had the crab cake (crispy lots of crab meat not a lot of filling), golden beet and arugula salad and the rib eye steak bone in cooked to perfection (sides a la cart only).

Great service. Pretty busy. Sat by the bar at a booth.

I am writing to share what a wonderful experience I had at Repeal. Jared Jones is a distinguished asset to your team; the attention to detail he provided made our visit truly exceptional.

The entire staff was professional and handled the rush during the Louisville game impressively. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the bone marrow appetizer—it is especially delicious when added to the steak.

We had a great experience and look forward to returning soon

Simply one of the best meals I’ve had. We came for our wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful time.

The service was top tier, very professional and helpful. The vibe was classy and cozy, I loved the lighting and plants.

From the drinks to the food, we were blown away by each item. I saw others’ reviews of the bread and wow!! Everyone was right. The bread was a showstopper. The steak was the best I’ve had in town– smooth, evenly cooked, perfect seasoning. The tuna tartar was phenomenal, I highly recommend. Perfect salad and soup, incredible bread pudding (which we took home so I didn’t photograph). My honey for the bees cocktail is my new favorite drink in town. We will absolutely be returning here many times in the future.

Went here with a large group on my birthday and we had a great experience. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed. For appetizers we ordered the wagyu hot stone, oysters, and bone marrow. They were all phenomenal, especially the oysters and bone marrow; wagyu was good but little on the saltier side from the hot stone. The tomahawk steak was the highlight of the meal. It was well seasoned, tender, and had the smokiness from the wood fire grill. Service was as good as the food. Will definitely be back again!

Repeal Oak Fired Steakhouse was my second pick while in Louisville and boy was it the right one. I was really in the mood for an amazing steak at a renowned steakhouse. Reservations via their online system were easy although flexibility is a must as they are well booked. This is a great place for an intimate dinner for two, important business dinner and everything in between. Great ambience, with a more modern feel. The food is a la carte and not for those with menu economic restrictions. We each had bowls of lobster bisque with their house bread as an appetizer. I will say that the lobster bisque, although traditional, was a dissappointment. Very little lobster flavor. It actually tasted closer to brown gravy. The house bread was amazing. For our entrees, I had the NY strip and my wife had the fillet. I ordered for her making hers medium served with a cold water lobster tail and a side of the black truffle bernaise. For my NY, I went medium rare served “Deans” style which include 2oz of cold water lobster claw meat, black truffle bernaise seved on a bed of Red wine reduction. I added a side of mashed Yukon Gold potatoes. These were whipped and VERY good. My dinner was exceptional and my wife said iy was the best steak she has ever had. While the prices are steep, in my experience, the food is worth every penny. This is a must hit if you enjoy great steaks.
