While spending a weekend skiing at Gore Mountain I looked at Google restaurant reviews to find a place to eat. Rene’s showed up with the highest rating and I decided to try it based on it high rating. I cant compare it to any of its fellow local restaurants and will rated based on my NYC restaurant experiences. Its menu is trendy and was my main reason for eating there over other places. Service was polite and courteous but I never felt really comfortable in this converted home/restaurant. I felt the food was fine but lacked a little on execution. My son had the smaller steak option and it was not small. Quality of the meat was very good as the steak was very tender but did not excite our pallet. I wont mention our others dishes as the results where the basically the same.

Based on ingredients used for its menu the intent is there but didnt feel the execution was completely there on my visit. The fact it has so many positive reviews and its menu, it’s my belief that I may have caught them on a average night but feel the possibilities of this being a 4 star or better place is there.

I tried Rene’s for the first time last night and it was fantastic! I got the roasted duck and it was phenomenal; I’m definitely going to get it again. The risotto that my husband got was also wonderful. Definitely make a reservation if you plan on going to Rene’s because the restaurant is very small.

Such a cozy atmosphere. Only 7 tables and only open Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 8. Food is spectacular and the service is extordinary. Bring your own bottle of wine or beer, they will be glad to serve it. I’m nervous reviewing because I want to keep it for myself.

We thoroughly enjoyed our entire dining experience! It is a small, attractively decorated restaurant and our server was very friendly, funny and helpful.

All of our dishes were outstanding. The cream of cauliflower soup du jour and salad were very tasty. For appetizers, we got the oriental shrimp and chicken dumplings which excite all parts of your taste buds. The dumplings have a unique blend of herbs and spices and are served with noodles in a delicious tangy, sweet sauce. I could have had a whole meal of them.

For dinner, I had the special – a walnut, panko encrusted baked salmon over a bed of flavorful risotto topped with asparagus. It was expertly done with just the right crunch of the coating with a very moist, tasty piece of salmon. My wife had the wianerschnitzel with a terrific sauce and homemade spätzle. We had just enough room to split a dessert. The chocolate kalua bread pudding was terrific.

The prices are reasonable, portions very generous and attractively plated. If I could give more than a 5, I would. We will most definitely be back!
