The house wine was quite good and reasonably priced, as was the rest of the wine list. The only downsides were that the food was overly salted and we were charged $2 for an extra serving of salad dressing. Everything was so copious that there was unfortunately no room left for dessert. Still, we would definitely eat here again.
Note: We got the dining room off of the right to the entrance to ourselves. It doesn’t have a door so I guess it isn’t “private,” but we were not disturbed by other guests at all and my best man was still able to give a speech and everything!
One of my pet peeves is inconsistency with service. When a new couple comes in 15 minutes after you do, but they receive everything including ordering their meal before you do. Especially when you’re hungry, and everyone at your table is trying to have eye contact with the servers.. That was annoying. For me. And I didn’t want to remember Rendezvous that way. They even flopped the boeuf bourguignon so hard in front of me, the sauce splashed on me.. lol
We were led to our table right in the service aisle but ok.
The good: The French onion soup for starters was excellent. It arrived quickly and was as tasty as it was nice and hot.
Demetri showed us the wine and drink menu and when I mentioned we didn’t drink -he offered mocktails.
We ordered:
Lasagne Provençal. I have entered the description of this food because it smelled distinctly like fish.
Per the menu it was composed of seasonal vegetables, gruyère, mozzarella, garlic, tomato sauce, parmesan. I have entered the description of this food because it smelled distinctly like fish. I believed, when it was delivered to the table, that perhaps I neglected to note either fish, shrimp or lobster but alas, none of those are components of that dish so I have no explanation for the fish aroma.
Beoff Bourguignon: This dish arrived barely warm. I did not see Demetri so I asked another young woman if she could heat it up. She gladly took the bowl. Mere moments later she was back placing the food on the table. It was still lukewarm. Ah Demetri passed by and we asked again if the food could be heated. He also returned promptly and the food was still not hot, During his short absence -I was trying to wait for my husband’s food so we both could enjoy our dinner together- So, we went back to our soup. When he returned it was still not hot. The 3rd time was the charm . I am unclear as to what was happening in the kitchen re: heating the food …but it took 3 shots to get a hot entree.
No worries soup got to finish the soup and the Pomme Frites were still warm and were quite nice.
Well, it was an interesting anniversary dinner. Not exactly my vision but if you are feeling “flexible” I can vouch for the French Onion Soup and the Pomme Frites.
