The history of this tavern is one of the best in Lake County Indiana. Positioned in what used to be an old Indiana town (Brunswick )where the stagecoach used to stop here to give its passengers a rest, eats and drink. What a wonderful building . a building that even holds in the basement stories of the prohibition . A place that one day progress will destroy. Enjoy it while it’s still here.. stopped in with the HOODLUM motor club and was welcomed with warm, greetings and cold beers.

I’ve been meaning to stop in for literally ten years. For some reason I was intimidated to go in. I had a rough July and on my way back into Cedar Lake tonight I said to myself, “I’m gonna stop in. If I’m not welcome, then at least I know.” So I walk in and it’s just the owner and I. He was cordial, showed me what they had and I ordered a beer. We watched some TV and chatted for a while. Don was very cool and had some fun stories about his life. I’ll definitely be back.

Quiet and in the middle of nowhere. It is not for people who don’t have a liking for old school places and bikes. The guy is a veteran and superchilled. The bar is small and smoking is allowed. Plus 5$ flat for two bottles of beer (pretty cheap for someone from Chicago). I loved it.

This is the best little quaint hometown bar!!! Don, the owner is friendly and welcoming. The bar is cute inside. Restrooms clean. I’ve been here many times and will visit many more!
