We both had filets, spaghetti squash, fries and asparagus. Holy cow, one of the best meals we have had traveling this country.
Service was absolutely on point, everything was spectacular.
I moved downstairs, where the bar was much more lively with louder music and more people. This is where happy hour actually exists, though it was harder to get the bartender’s attention because it was busier. Strangely, the food menu was exactly the same as upstairs, just printed on paper instead of an iPad, with the only difference being happy hour pricing for drinks and a few food items.
Between the mismatched vibes and duplicate menus, the place felt disjointed rather than intentionally designed.
The food came out great and so did both cocktails (both upstairs and downstairs).
One thing I did not like which involved one of the staff members at this location was the fact that when we ordered our bottle of Dom Périgon, our server went to put in the order for our bottle and was TOLD by another staff member to come back and ask us if we were sure we wanted to get the bottle and if we knew the price of the bottle because it was “supposedly” the last one they had.
I did not like this because I felt as if they only told him to ask us that because they probably figured we couldn’t afford it being that we are some young black people who had just ordered a mixed drink and a double shot of Hennessy with our food. So that person just automatically assumed we couldn’t afford that type of bottle which really blew my mind for a sec being that I was just talking to my husband about getting another bottle to open while we were there right before Michael came back to the table being that he said they got plenty bottles and being that the one we order was requested to be in fridge in chill until we leave.
And so to that person I would like to say this, Please don’t ever assume that people like us would ever waist time making dinner reservations at any restaurant, sit and view menus at the dinner table and place an order wit the menu in hand just to not be able to afford to pay for anything that is ordered because you almost caused us to leave and you caused is to not even want to order anymore bottles to avoid any more questioning.
To the Refinery Management team I highly request that you please teach employees to not judge a book by its cover because the ones they think not gona spend a lot will always be the ones spending the most or a lot and supporting your business in the long run! And can your team also give Michael a big thank you for having great energy with us and making us comfortable enough to want to stay after that award moment of questioning my bottle order choice.
Great place for birthday dinner!
Visiting the area, we booked The Refinery for a birthday dinner. It was perfect. The aambience is sophisticated, classy, and comfortable. The service was outstanding. And the food was exquisite. We enjoyed a shrimp cocktail and the seafood spread for apps, and recommend both. Two of us tried the Mussels as an entree and were blown away. For a dish that I’ve had a million times, these were far and away the best, with a broth that demanded a spoon to enjoy all on its own. The peach melba cobbler dessert, again, was phenomenal.
Book a table. Ask for a window seat on the second floor. And enjoy!
grownup food! Easy walk from our hotel. Got lucky it wasn’t crowded. Downstairs much more casual but we did the upstairs dining room. Menu isn’t huge but it works and food was great. Salads and bread are extra charge. Ya get a small veggie and a starch with meal tho. It served our purpose and the duck confit & risotto was amazing!!
My food was ok. I ordered yhe scallops and pineapple risotto. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The risotto wasnt bad, it was just ok.
The dirty martini with blue cheese olives was superb.
We ordered the seafood dip as an appetizer, it was good, not great.
My hubby had the chicken carbonara… the noodles with the pesto was so fresh, I enjoyed the taste, the chicken was so salty and over seasoned.
My children had the tender and grill cheese kids meal with fries, they loved it.
The view is beautiful, but probably more enjoyable in the summer months when the days are longer. Our reservation was at 5, so we did get a little time to enjoy the view. Once the sun went down it was just darkness. The inside ambiance was very nice so that made up for it.
I like that they also have an elevator to access the upper level. My dad is a disabled Vet, and that helped a lot.
All in all its was a good time and I’m happy I was able to experience it.
IF I did go back. Id try the bar location downstairs.
