We’ve been coming to Kiawah Island for 10 years and always look forward to a trip to Red’s Ice House especially for the Monday night all you can eat crab legs for my son ($34.95). After reading some of the recent reviews about the poor service, I was a little worried. However during our 2 visits during the week, they were both great. They kept bringing the crab legs in plenty of time to keep ahead of my son’s appetite and we never felt like we were waiting long for service. The rest of the family ordered delicious burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches (get the homemade chips with these) . One thing that may make a difference is that we got here around 5:30 pm both visits and that is before the normal crowds. Overall a great visit in a great atmosphere.

It will never be fancy or particularly delicious but it’s a great place for beer and bar food. Also nice to have a boat friendly place.

The food here is average but the atmosphere almost makes up for the mediocre food and awful service! We were told there was a 1 1/2 hour wait if we wanted inside seating but if we wanted to sit outside it would be rather quickly. We opted for outside even though it looked like it might rain any minute. A drink later we were still standing and noticed the same table that we saw when we first went outside was still open. I went in to point it out that we were still waiting over a half hour later to be seated at the open table. At that point we were seated quickly to be at the mercy of Ed the waiter and his terrible service. 20 minutes later we finally got water and then the drinks trickled in. When the hit crab legs came no one could eat them hot because we didn’t have butter or picks, silverware or napkins until the crab legs were cold. Some at the table made a good effort to enjoy their meal. It was completely ridiculous!!! This is not a place I would waste my time at!

Food was decent. Crab cakes are tasty but small. Got fried oysters, they were a little greasy/soggy. My wife got a burger and it was really blah and not appetizing to the eye. Service was great, awesome views.

I’ve been here once for beers and twice to eat. The first time was a nightmare. We sat outside and were attacked by flies ( a lot of them)… which the waitress seemed no to notice. We moved to another table far away from the flies but it was still really frustrating. The most recent visit was much better because the waitress, food and seating were all perfect. If I go there again and have a positive experience I’ll give in another star

Pretty decent food. We ended up in here but our original location was to go the the Rosebank Cafe which is closed. Anyway we have a young family and my husband was dubious about going into a pub with children.

It was fine, we arrived about 5pm for an early supper. I had the fish and chips. Although the fish was a little greasy it was surprisingly tasty and exceeded my expectations.

Nice place to stop by and would eat here again.

We specifically go there every year, for the all you can eat crab legs. This year we were seated outside and I had to go in to ask for service (after waiting 30 minutes). Once the crab legs came, we were actually bombarded with gnats. So much, we couldn’t enjoy our food. Apparently there with citronella candles that weren’t offered to us. Service was slow. We were reseated inside near the end of our meal. I complained to the manager, Ashley, after I had to search for her, and all she said was “I’m sorry!” Wthout offering any compensation for our ridiculously inconvenient meal. I’m so disappointed.

Service was good, food was not good or was overpriced. Biggest issue was the regular fried shrimp (not the coconut appetizer, which was good but very small). The regular fried shimp was obviously made with frozen shrimp that you use for shrimp cocktail..this is culinary malpractice especially for a place near the ocean. Shrimp tacos were just okay, nothing special and again were made from frozen shrimp. Wife said the ladies room was nasty. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Food prices are very reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Very quality however is very poor. Ordered the fried oysters and they were inedible. They were so over cooked that the oysters must have dissolved in the fryer and I was left with lumps of chard breading. Hush puppies were also butchered in the fryer. Very disappointing that a restaurant that sits on the water can so royally screw up fried oysters.
