It was cold. The food was cold, the service was cold, the restaurant was cold. When I walked in the people behind the counter just stared at me. No offer of service. I ordered and was met with simple grunts. I ordered just a bbq sandwich, mac and cheese, and iced tea. I got to the table with my food and tried the mac and cheese. It wasn’t hot, it wasn’t even warm. First bite and all I could taste was pickled jalapeño and maybe old bay. It didn’t taste like mac and cheese. *shrugs* I ate it, it was broadly fine. The sandwich was cold. The bun was cold, just pulled from a plastic package and topped with meat. It had never felt warmth, God forbid we make an effort to toast it at all. I took the top bun off and used it to try the different sauces. They were all chilled, like wine fresh from a cooler. They were okay, all tangy and sweet. One was tangy and sweet with the barest hint of heat. I took a bite of the meat next. It was good. Nice flavor, not dry. But again, cool, not hot or even warm. I put the sauce that had a hint of heat in it on the bbq and ate it with my fork. I didn’t eat the bottom layer of sad, cold bun. The tea wasn’t sweet or unsweetened, just somewhere in the middle. Overall everything was just okayish. There was nothing that made it worth the money I spent and when I was done eating I was wishing I had just followed my instincts and gone to the McDonald’s across the street.

The St Louis style ribs, with fat marbling throughout made them particularly flavorful, with a savory and slightly sweet taste aided by their Competition Sawse. (9/10) Great baked beans (9/10) & avg tater salad (6/10). The staff was 5 star worthy & the restaurant was CLEAN (10/10). The brisket was good; smokey, flavorful & plentiful. (8/10) Cornbread was served room temp – I prefer warm, but it IS tasty. Will be back for a 3rd visit to try the tempting sandwich menu. Worth the drive!!! Enjoy!

It was so good to have BBQ in Carteret County. Delicious brisket and smoked chicken and pork BBQ. The sauce came in little cups and I definitely could’ve used more. The sides, omg thank God, were definitely the accompaniment needed for the heavenly meat. Tried the jalapeno mac and cheese, which was my least favorite as I like spicy and only found 1 tiny piece of jalapeno. The collards were nearly perfect. Salty but I guess they have to be. The baked beans are excellent. Top tier. Corn bread was yummy. I will definitely return. Give them a go please.

Drove down from JoCo back on December 1, but haven’t been able to write a review until now. Food was the same as what I’ve come to love at the original location. Great hospitable service from the staff. Has an ambiance that reflects the local coastal area. When I’m down this way again I’ll be sure to visit.

My wife and I went here today. We got a pound of burnt ends and the sides we got were coleslaw, bbq potatoes, green beans, and mac n cheese. The burnt ends were moist and flavorful. The sides we got were all top notch. We saved the cornbread for later as we like ours buttered. Overall, fantastic food!

The ribs fall off of the bone and the meat is not overcooked. Tender and succulent! I have patronized ‘The Redneck’ since they opened their first location. My employees were thrilled to dine on many meals from here! When I offered them a choice of where I bought food to give them? The Redneck came in first place. The collards are cooked and seasoned perfectly. Always and forever, it’s The Redneck! It hurts me to see an undeserved negative review for them. Keep reviews honest. These people are hustling and bustling to provide exceptional food and service.

We ate for dinner at 5:30. The restaurant was closing up but is supposed to be open till 7:00. Chairs were up on the tables. Employees were very nice.
All food was cold. Chicken dry and cold. Pork cold. All sides were cold, Mac and cheese looked like it had been sitting there all day. First time eating here and was very disappointed. Maybe lunch time the food would have been better but even at 5:30 should have been somewhat warm at least. Won’t go back unfortunately.

I came around 11:30 on a Tuesday. I was helped right away and the attitudes of the staff were impressive. They clearly care about customer service, welcoming you and treating you well. The pulled pork was great and so was the brisket. Pricing was fair. I will be back.

I ordered brisket, Mac and cheese, potato salad, corn bread, with a lemonade. The lemonade , potato salad and cornbread were decent. The Mac and cheese was the worse I have ever tasted. It tasted like cheap nacho cheese dip.The sauce on the brisket was vinegar based. It’s was my first and will be my last time visiting.
