We stopped by Red White & Que today for a late lunch. It’s a small Texas style smoked BBQ restraunt. When walking in were immediately greeted by the friendly staff behind the counter. The auroma of fresh smoky BBQ hits your nose right away. Needless to say my mouth was already watering before even looking at the menu. My wife and I decided on the combo for two. The combo consisted of a big pile of pulled pork,beautiful cuts of brisket. Two sides come with the combo as well as the most fresh delicious pickles and rolls.After placing the order we sat down and waited a few minutes for the food. It all came out on a big tray. The brisket was so delicious melt in your mouth. The pulled pork had a fantastic smoke flavour.The macaroni and cheese was the only thing I thought could be better however my wife loved it.The Cole slaw with mayo is on point and fresh. You get to choose your pickle and I choose horseradish. They were accommodated by a pickled vegetable of your choice. I choose pickled onion and it did not disappoint. Overall atmosphere was bright small and cheery. The owner is a vet and served our military and now serves up the most delicious BBQ!We will be back to try more.

My husband and I visited this BBQ spot after seeing it on TikTok. Overall, the food was decent, but not something I’d go out of my way for again. We wanted to sample a little bit of everything, but it’s definitely pricey, so we decided to go with the BBQ Lover’s Combo, which was enough for both of us. I even had leftovers for the next day—my husband didn’t (he finished his, of course!).

The combo included:

* 1/4 lb brisket
* 1/4 lb pulled pork
* 1/4 lb pastrami
* 1/4 lb turkey breast (we swapped this for extra pastrami, which was just one extra slice)
* One house-made sausage link (jalapeño cheddar)
* 1/4 rack of ribs
* Two small sides of our choice and other accompanied sides like coleslaw and pickles
*Baked beans
*Mac and cheese
* Four rolls

The total came out to $72.83 before tax, $77.65 after.

Now for the breakdown:
We **did not** enjoy the pulled pork at all—the smoke flavor was extremely overpowering. I couldn’t even finish it. I really hope they’re not using artificial smoke flavor, because it totally ruined the taste and quality for me.

The rest of the meats were okay, but I found myself reaching for the BBQ sauce to bring out the flavor. While everything was cooked well (not overly greasy, which I appreciated), I felt like the brisket and pulled pork especially could have used more salt or seasoning.

The highlight? **The pastrami and rhe sausage** Absolutely amazing—perfectly seasoned, juicy, tender… I could honestly eat it all day.

As for the sides, they were nothing to rave about. We got baked beans, mac & cheese, garlic pickles, and the mayo-based slaw. Everything was fine, but the best part was making little sandwiches using the rolls, meats, and BBQ sauce. That combo definitely worked well.

This spot was a 50-minute drive from Livingston, NJ, and honestly, I wouldn’t make the trip again just for this food. But if I’m ever in the area, I’d be down to try their sandwiches or other menu items. Overall, the BBQ was okay—not terrible, but not amazing either. That said, it’s definitely better than Abby’s BBQ in NJ, which I find overly greasy and lacking in flavor.

Customer service was solid. I asked a bunch of questions and the young cashier was super helpful and didn’t make me feel like a bother at all, which I appreciated.

Great BBQ. My wife and I got the BBQ lovers sampler and couldn’t be more pleased. The pastrami stole the show but everything else was on point. Will definitely be going back. Also, veterans eat for free which is awesome.

This is our 2nd time visiting and as always, the very best service, always so attentive, even worh a packed house and let me tell no matter what everyone waiting was patient and thankful, when you have a place of business and you genuinely treat your customers like family and friends no one will complain or feel like they are not getting the best service in town. I truly appreciate the staff and all their hard work. We enjoyed every bite for sure, BBQ made with love for sure.

They use to be located in Kearny a while back now but the food is just as amazing. Red White & Que Smokehouse delivers great barbecue every time. The meats are tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Solid portions and friendly service.

I usually base my reviews on three things: quality, price, and overall experience and this place absolutely delivers on all of them. I’ve had authentic Texas BBQ before, and honestly, this spot rivals and even surpasses some of the best joints down south. When it comes to barbecue and smoked meats, it’s all about finding that perfect balance between juicy, flavorful fat and tender meat, and they’ve nailed it here. The brisket, sausage, and ribs are standout items that are perfectly smoked, rich, and packed with flavor. Highly recommend.

Are you serious. I ordered a half rack of ribs to go with the intention of sharing with some friends who I had told them this place has great ribs. Imagine the disappointment of seeing a half rack of BURNED dried out ribs. Sooo disappointing. Nobody touched them and we threw them away. Oh well.

Real Texas barbecue in the heart of the Garden State. I can’t believe I’ve never been here before – thanks to Tedd for suggesting it! He got the rib, and I got the brisket/pulled pork sampler, both were excellent. Be sure to bring a six of Shiners for the authentic experience. And if you’ve got a few extra minutes, stop by Washington Rock, just up the road. P.S. For you old-timers, it’s right next to where the Leaning Tower of Pizza used to be.

The pastrami was tender and flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices and a delicious smokiness. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. The portions were generous, and the different sauce they provided were a delight. Overall, it was a mouthwatering combination that left me craving more!
