It’s unfortunate to see this place go down hill as far as quality- it used to be the best brunch spot. It used to be my go to- but I think I’ll skip it going forward. It’s just not worth the cost anymore. The large proportions that they used to have were worth their big prices- I was happy then to pay them … but now I’m paying $20 for a country fried steak that’s barely the size of 4 raspberries? Also- I wouldn’t count chuck roast as a steak. Nor “sorting through packages of meat” as a good enough excuse to serve it AND charge for it. Next time tell me you’re out. I want what I pay for, unfortunately you just don’t get it here anymore.

Red Stu is a restaurant that specializes in breakfast and brunch fare. Here you’ll find pancakes, French toast, omelettes, biscuits and gravy, etc. The food was solidly good, but nothing too special. The staff was very friendly, but the service a bit slow (by the time we sat at our table to the time we left was a little over an hour). The atmosphere was chic and classy.

Ordered Jeff or Jeds cajun smash burger. Was a little overcooked and not very spicy. Burger had a really crispy crust on it. Nice flavor in spite of being overcooked. Smash burgers were a little thick too. Price at $17 was (sad to say) reasonable for a place that sells Corona in a bottle for $7. Also got a laugh out of the Boys to Men signs outside the bathrooms.

Generally unimpressed. The staff was nice enough, but not super attentive or timely throughout our visit. It took much longer than I’d expect to get our check at the end of the visit. The sausage gravy on the biscuits and gravy was salty to the point that I only ate half of my food. I’ll try MN Nice instead next time I’m in town.

The location is in the downtown Bemidji area, and there is street parking available. It’s connected to the 209 bar on the corner. I visited Red Stu’s for breakfast, where a few locals were already inside. The menu features a nice selection of upscale dishes, and the coffee was good. I enjoyed a delicious omelet. The restaurant also has a pleasant bar and dining area, and the Bloody Marys looked appealing.

Great breakfast place. Nicely priced Senior specials. Hostess was friendly and courteous. My only issue was with the toasts (too soggy with shortening). The menu is great and different from other breakfast menus in town.
