Excellent options for tacos that are a bit more off the beaten path as far as flavors go. I loved the multiple veggie options and the mango habanero margarita was excellent and quite spicy. I’d highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the mood for tacos.

Don’t drive place this place!!! Stop! It’s delicious. We ordered a lot of food and weren’t disappointed. Their drinks were great too. Dave was our waiter and super helpful. Dog friendly outdoors, sectioned off bar indoors, great atmosphere.

Decent food for the price! The best part was probably the portion sizes. My nachos were $16 ($11 base price plus $5 to add chicken) and they came with a LOT to eat. However, the food was just kind of… bland? I would come here for the chips and guac, but the entrees just weren’t anything to write home about. The service was decent, but it looked like there was only one employee working the bar AND serving tables so I can’t fault her for not being super attentive to our table. Just because it wasn’t my favorite doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it!

Red Star has become a favorite happy hour hang and weekend taco spot. I love their nachos, their margaritas are high quality and delicious, the staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is thoughtful and unique featuring lovely personalized art. I love coming here for date night or happy hour with friends!

Staff is incredibly kind and provided phenomenal service, and the way they’ve been able to transform the space is just incredible (they’re right next door to their sister restaurant, Sweet Bay Cafe which also had a killer transformation).
Everything tasted amazing, and we were stoked to see so many vegetarian and gluten-free options on the menu that tasted delicious.
All to say, 10/10 experience and this is easily somewhere we’ll come back to again.

TIP: The entrance is on the parking lot side of the building, where the picnic tables are located.
TIP: You can add (spicy sweet & sour sauced) tofu to any item even if it’s not specifically listed along with the item.
I think there are still a few kinks to work out for this new restaurant, but overall we were impressed during our first visit and we will be back. The music was too loud (our server agreed), and my menu pages weren’t assembled correctly so it was a little hard to find all the food options, but we managed, and we had a great meal and some excellent happy hour margaritas and tacos. I recommend the locally-made corn flour taco shells for extra flavor. We are vegetarian and found plenty of good options on the menu. We started with (non-complimentary) chips and salsa, which were excellent. The chips were warm and tasty, and the salsa was spicy but not too spicy for my heat-averse spouse. We had the black bean taco and tofu taco from the happy hour menu, along with a house margarita and a strawberry marg slushie. The slushie was sweet (but not too sweet) and smooth, and the house margarita was not sweet. I prefer mine sweet, but my DH doesn’t, so I’ll stick with slushies and he’ll stick with the traditional ones. Then we had the veggie burrito and the taco salad (adding tofu). Both were fine, not excellent but very good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Restrooms were gender-neutral, with the sinks located outside the restrooms in a common open area that’s shared with Sweet Bay Cafe.

This place manages to be one of the best Happy Hour and Specials spots in town. (Check out the specials/HH menu online!) The prices are really good and the ambience is really beautiful! They made what was originally a huge space feel really cozy.

Had Happy Hour tacos (sweet potato, carnitas and Sriracha tofu) and margs (4-6pm every day and late night). We already love the Tacoma location, and we were excited that they opened up one in Bellingham! Highly recommend the tacos and the bowls!
Our specific server didn’t check in at all on us after we got our food, and she missed getting us chips and salsa, so we had to ask someone else for the order as well as our check.

Friendly staff Dave Anikaj Stelaa Cholee are so amazing! I ordered 6 tacos thinking they were street tacos was I wrong, they where burrito size and I could only finish 2 lol! Food and drinks amazing! I recommend this place to out of towners as locals! ⭐
