My group decided to meet for lunch and fellowship at Red Star Kitchen & Bar. There is plenty of parking and also handicapped accessible entry. The menu offered various entrees. I decided on catfish and grits served with a delicious roux. Crystal, our server, was efficient, friendly, and attentive. We were impressed. The food presentation was good, our drinks were topped with beautiful orchids. We agreed that the restaurant was clean, nicely decorated, and the food was tasty. There was a nice crowd of patrons eating, and people at the bar enjoying cocktails. There is an enclosed outdoor area for those wishing to eat outside. The restrooms are clean and stocked. Our impression was unanimous. We all liked everything. The only exception is the D.J. had the volume up to the point that we couldn’t converse. It was entirely too loud. This may deter older patrons from returning. Give them a try, you may be glad you did!

It is pricey! I repeat…it is pricey! There’s no way i should be paying $6+ for one scoop of side grits…when you can purchase a whole box for $2-3. I had brunch here yesterday and had such a great experience! Our waitress CC was absolutely amazing. She was so patient, attentive, and had the best recommendations on the menu. Everything she suggested turned out to be really good, and she made the whole experience even better with her positive attitude and great service.
The atmosphere was a vibe — the music was perfect for brunch and the place was very clean and welcoming. The drinks were really good, and the food was so good. Everything came out fresh and flavorful.
Overall it was a great brunch experience and CC truly made it memorable. I’ll definitely be back!

Celebrated my grandson’s 10th birthday here and everything was amazing… as usual. This has turned into my goto spot and I’m here several times a month. He loved the Mac n cheese, shrimp, sliders, and chicken. Yes he ordered and ate it all . I loved the short rib baked potato. They even let us celebrate with a very small cake we brought. My grandson was proud to support a Black-owned business..cause that’s what we do. Please don’t change cause y’all all good!!

The food we ordered was great. We had catfish bites, crab cakes and grits, sweet and spicy wings , mild wings, collard greens and a couple more dishes. There was one person in our party that didn’t receive her meal until about 20-25 minutes after the rest of us. The server did communicate with us about her meal.

Im vegan and I love the impossible wrap here. it’s soooooo good I had to come back. Unfortunately ingredients were not available at the time I recently went but they were very accommodating and made something else for me which I really appreciate.
The music was great, tv stations were good and the staff was amazing. From the greeter to the servers to the cooks. Everyone was nice, informative, kind and great energy.
I will be back for the impossible wrap and a mocktail soon.

10/10!! Just wanted to say thank you to the entire staff especially KC and the young lady who was bartender with her. They were friendly, had good vibes and patient, and attentive. Also, shout out to the hostess and General Manager. You all accommodated us so well for my Sister’s 40th Valentine birthday. Myself and everyone else had a wonderful time and appreciate y’all so much. Definitely will be back!

Some friends of ours that live close to Redstar took us there for a casual evening out, and I have to say all 4 of us could not have had a better experience! Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect food wise, but as soon as we got the catfish nuggets as an appetizer, we knew we were in for something special. Two of us had burgers and we both agreed they were one of the best burgers we ever had, and I promise you that’s not just hype…they were OUTSTANDING! The grilled shrimp and shortrib flat bread were just as good, NOTHING we had was disappointing. Lastly, I have to say how special our server CeeCee (not sure if I’m spelling it right) was from the very beginning. Very welcoming and pleasant personality, and did a great job answering questions about items on the menu. She’s a special person and Redstar is fortunate to have her as an employee. We live in Bolingbrook but will absolutely make our way back to see y’all!

Good service and a fun, lit atmosphere. Drinks were really good, but the food wasn’t it. The lamb chops had a funny taste and the grits had no flavor.
