My partner and I chose this restaurant for Valentine’s Day dinner after seeing many rave reviews online. Unfortunately, we left somewhat disappointed, and still hungry. First of all, we booked online about a month in advance. The restaurant called about a week later to let us know that the menu was prix fixe – 5 pre-selected courses, with no selections or substitutions available. We decided to keep the reservation. However, we should have looked into other options. Upon arrival, we spent about 10-15 minutes waiting for our table, despite our reservation. Then, there was the matter of the prix fixe menu. Of the five courses, one was a “shot” of vegetable juice, one was a shared dessert, and another was more or less a singular deviled egg. For a grand total of over $175 per person, we were very disappointed. While the food was okay, there simply was not enough of it. The portions were meager, including the “main” course of ribs and a (singular) scallion. The various versions of leafy greens did little to made up for it. We actually watched the server walk by with a burger towards the end of our meal, and couldn’t help but wish we could have that instead. On the positive side, the service and ambiance were wonderful – it’s a beautiful restaurant, and our server was great. However, it felt like we were being taken advantage of for trying to dine during a popular event/holiday. Very disappointing to leave hungry after spending $300+.

Came for dinner on a Monday night… relaxed by the fireplace with a before dinner drink. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Monday nights are 1/2 of bottles of wine… perfect! Dinner consisted of the calamari appetizer which was amazing… not your average calamari and sauce.. it had a Moroccan twist!
Main entrees of bison tenderloin and Elk were amazing… highly recommend the Carmel pecan carrot cake! Brian B was our server, he was very knowledgeable and all his menu suggestions were spot on! We enjoyed his mix of professionalism and kind laid back vibe!

The atomosphere, service, and presentation of all of the items ordered was phenomenal!!! Our server was very attentive, and amazing! I ordered the sea bass, and tried a very nice butternut squash soup (I do not remember the formal name of it) but it was delish! All of the team was so nice & helpful. I will say the ambience around the holidays really made this place truly special on our vacation!

We were split into two parties because they could not accommodate our twelve person party, even though we called a week in advance. Our server was great, but our other group had horrendous service and was treated completely disrespectful by a different server

Manager clearly didn’t care as he did nothing to accommodate the lack of service and unprofessionalism, which leads me to believe this problem is with the management.

It has potential to be decent but it needs ALOT of work to be a five star.

Our steak was ordeted medium, and clearly undercooked as you will see in the picture. Nothing was offered to remedy that, but we did enjoy the tapas.

Given our families spent over 1k on this establishment and received that type of service, this would not be on our “again” list.

We had the pleasure of dining at the Red Stag Grill on five separate occasions during a weeklong visit to Asheville, all for breakfast/brunch. We were able to sample more than half the menu during that period of time, and at no point were we disappointed with any of the food served. The service was almost always impeccable, save for one poor experience. The atmosphere evoked a lodge in the mountains even better than the hotel itself. Some of the highlights on the menu include the breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, and smoked salmon toast. Also, the biscuits and fresh fruit rival any Michelin starred restaurant’s food quality.
Reservations for dinner are a must because the restaurant is not very large, but does skew more towards an earlier dinner crowd. Also, since the restaurant is located in the lobby of the Grand Bohemian Lodge hotel, parking is valet only. We would dine there again any time.

Truly the best dining experience of my life! Alana, our waitress, was so kind and knowledgeable about the menu and talked me into the bison. It was incredible and cooked perfectly. The sides were great for sharing and everything down to the details of the coaster cloths was what really puts this place above many others I have been to. We got a delicious complimentary dessert for our anniversary and it was a great way to end our dining experience.

Always a good time. We always go about hour before dinner reservations to sit at the bar and have a drink then from there go to our table. Hosts and servers are amazing and really good suggestions on food. Definitely a must try. Bring cash for the valet no atm on site. Upscale nice jeans button ups, suits, lady’s dresses and or classy dress attire recommended.

We ate at Red Stag grill several times during our stay at the Grand Bohemian in Asheville, for both dinner and breakfast and both were excellent. At breakfast, Ethan was our server and he was so personable. The eggs benedict and the French toast were both exceptional and highly recommended. Love that they offer French pressed coffee.

At dinner, the filet was very good and cooked perfectly to the requested temperature and with a Pittsburgh char, as requested. The Caesar salad was tasty, but a bit of work. Bread is available at an extra fee and the initial bread that was brought to our table was so hard I thought I would break my teeth on it. Our dinner server, Ryan, felt terrible and brought out a different type of bread, which was much softer.

We also enjoyed a meal in the bar area, which is a bit more casual, but just as excellent. Lily was our server in the bar area and she was kind enough to have the kitchen split our burger and truffle fries onto 2 different plates since we were sharing them. They were so delicious!

Highly recommend dining here!
