What a great place we found to stop on our side trip from Lewiston to Boise…via La Grande. This cafe with its great food and hospitality was icing on the cake after a scenic trip. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was relaxing. I highly recommend stopping here and having a wonderful experience. Breakfast all day! It’s hard to beat a menu with options like that!

It was decently busy when we arrived. It was clean with an old hometown feel. The cash only issue is no longer an issue, The waitress is incredible, on top of being a co-owner. Words can’t describe how delicious the food was. Get the bread and the jelly!!!!!!!

The portions are crazy, I was able to bring home a takeaway bag and have another whole meal!! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. My daughter and her friend visit here at least once a week. It was my first visit, but it was definitely not my last! I’ll be seeing you again when I’m back in Oregon!!!

Great location nestled into a beautiful valley. Greeted when we came in, seated immediately. Server let us know the specials and gave us time, waters, coffees soon after. Check-ins were just about right. Group got a variety, special was marionberry waffles, farmers plate, Denver omelette quiche. Refills and payment went smoothly. Not sure if they had a system down in other reviews but cards were accepted no problem.

Great small town Cafe, with the family feel once you enter. Greeted by a busy waitress that still made time to make sure she knew we were there.
Love the 70’s soft rock playing while everyone worked. Restaurant was busy, one waitress( that kept up) , coffee was great and always a full cup.
We got pancakes ( was told batter is made fresh everyday from scratch) . Lots more on the menu to eat through the next time we are in town. Would definitely recommend.

Made our own sampler plate: 1/2 order – biscuits and gravy, not too salty, right amount of zest, garnish of green onions was a bonus – 1 Johnny cake, first time eating this, very good, needs a bit more syrup than usual as it’s made with cornmeal, 1/2 egg Benedict, the ham was double thick, perfect amount of delicious hollandaise sauce. This and a bottomless cup of hot, rich, black coffee.
Service was as expected for a busy place with one cook and one server, when she said ‘momma’ she meant it. For a full cafe, she was on top of things, letting us know – ours was next.
Don’t expect to run and run out – quality, good tasting food takes time.
This was our ‘go to’ spot – even while staying in Joseph.

Becky and I arrived at the Red Rooster around 9:30, we were seated at a 2 top as all other tables were occupied. The restaurant was busy and noisy.
Within minutes we were sipping freshly brewed coffee then ordered.
I chose the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast with (2) OE Eggs, Crispy Hashbrowns, Homemade Bread lightly toasted and Homemade Jam.
Every Item was fresh, hot and as ordered. I could not finish the Hashbrowns, as I was stuffed.
The wait staff was great, attentive and we left full and happy.

Excellent, everything was excellent!
We were seated right away, we were given our menu’s right away, she brought back our coffee immediately. After sitting a couple of other guest, she came back and took our order.

Awesome restaurant with amazing food. Some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve eaten in quite a while. Great coffee too. Our eggs and pancakes were delicious, bacon had just the right amount of crispness and chew. The staff was attentive and friendly. Perfect after a few days backpacking.
