Red Owl at the Kimpton Hotel delivered a truly enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. The meatballs were absolutely delicious perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with rich flavor. They were easily the standout dish of the meal.
The pizza was very good as well, with a well-balanced crust, fresh ingredients, and great flavor throughout. You can tell care is put into both the food and presentation.

What really elevated the experience, though, was the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcomed without being overbearing.

Overall, Red Owl is a great spot for quality food, a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, and top-notch service. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone staying at or visiting the Kimpton Hotel.

I recently visited Red Owl Tavern, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern vibe that makes it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions.

The service was exceptional—our server was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. The food was the highlight of the night: every dish was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. I especially loved the [favorite dish], which had an amazing balance of freshness and seasoning. The drinks menu was equally impressive, featuring creative cocktails and a great selection of local beers.

Overall, Red Owl Tavern delivered an outstanding dining experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

A Perfect On-Site Dining Spot for Wedding Weekends in Philadelphia!

Red Owl Tavern is such a great complement to Hotel Monaco Philadelphia and a standout dining option in its own right. The atmosphere strikes a really nice balance — lively yet comfortable, modern without feeling cold — which makes it especially ideal for wedding weekends.

The current/temporary restaurant space (as of 1/10/26) can be seen in the images here, as the original tavern is being renovated. Even the temporary area is thoughtfully designed and welcoming, making it a natural gathering spot for rehearsal dinners, post-rehearsal drinks, or casual meals with family and friends in town for a celebration. Having an on-site restaurant of this quality is a huge bonus for couples and guests alike.

The food was beautifully prepared and comforting in the best way — elevated without being pretentious. It’s easy to imagine this being a go-to spot for wedding guests looking for a relaxed but memorable dining experience right in the heart of the city.

For couples planning a Philadelphia wedding, Red Owl Tavern offers convenience, atmosphere, and quality — all things that help create a smooth and enjoyable wedding weekend!

Nice. The Red Owl Tavern is essentially the lobby bar of the Kimpton Monaco Hotel here in Philadelphia. Modern decor, good food and great selection of adult beverages. Service here and the hotel is really attentive and feels personal. They also have a nice selection of takeout food prepared like sandwiches or yogurt cups. I think my favorite thing was having a nice nightcap here before going to my room.

What a great fried chicken sandwich! Chicken thigh meat fried in beef tallow with a lemon pepper glaze and coleslaw and a house sauce. Personally would have love more tanginess but the whole thing together was a solid and pleasant surprise. Beef tallow fries reminded me of fries from my childhood. Conveniently located near Independence Hall and lots of sight seeing. Very enjoyable and memorable and unique fired chicken sandwich.

I’ll be sure to return whenever I’m in Philadelphia. The food was excellent, the prices fair, and the service attentive. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between lively and comfortable. What truly stood out, was the warmth of the people around me — friendly locals who made me feel instantly welcome. When you find a place where the locals gather, you know you’ve chosen well

Decided to try this place after a lovely afternoon exploring Old City. We were not disappointed.

The pierogis were fantastic, the hangar steak excellent. What truly stood out was the Tavern Burger. This may be one of the best burgers in the city. While my burger came out perfectly medium, our entire experience was well done.

In addition- the staff was above & beyond. Josie our server was so helpful with recommendations and super attentive. Rich the manager was also a delight.

We will be returning!

The Red Owl Tavern was a fantastic choice for lunch in Old City, Philadelphia.

We started our meal with some expertly crafted cocktails. I had a beautifully made Manhattan, and my friends enjoyed their Samba in Brazil and Amalfi Sunset. The drinks were a perfect start to our meal.
For lunch, I ordered the chicken Cobb salad, which was a generous portion of grilled chicken and fresh vegetables. It was a delicious and satisfying choice. I really enjoyed the white balsamic dressing. My friends were equally happy with their meals: the 1776 Fries, a loaded fry dish with smoked brisket, and the classic tavern burger which has a spicy kick.

The food was high quality and reasonably priced, and the service was excellent. We all agreed that the Red Owl Tavern is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We stayed at the hotel here for 7 days and here at least once per day for either
breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food was consistently good on all occasions. An omelette for breakfast, Philly cheesesteak for lunch or spicy crab noodles for dinner, it was all good. The Philly Cheesesteak was actually my favorite of 3 I had this week. Service was excellent, cocktails were very good and prices fair.

So disappointing. We’re staying at the hotel and ordered room service because we got in late and were starving. I ordered gnocchi and received these weird patties. My husband’s pizza was so good, but the horribly burnt bottom ruined it. We ate it because again… we were starving, but was very disappointed by this.
