I was in St. Petersburg from Massachusetts visiting my daughter, and she suggested we go to Red Mesa Cantina for lunch on Saturday. She is a vegetarian of many years that recently added fish back to her diet. We arrived around 1:30 PM, and we could see there were many people enjoying their meals, but we were able to get seated immediately and to choose to sit outdoors.
Our server arrived immediately to take our drink orders, and she promptly returned with the drinks and to take our food orders. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burrito. The presentation was excellent. The flavors and a little kick of spice kept me going back for more bites despite how filling it was – in a good way. I am really glad my daughter chose Red Mesa Cantina for us, it was the perfect spot with great service, atmosphere, and the food exceeded my expectations. Delicious. I definitely will make this our new routine when I am back visiting.

Great food…steak tacos definitely could have had more meat. Shrimp portion was good. Quesadilla good, sauce with them was great. The bathroom for Men is upstairs (?) Hard to think of an elderly person needing access to this…maybe make one woman’s bathroom for men…(?)
Anyhow not to distract from the fact, the meal was good! If you are in town, I’d recommend it.

We visited Red Mesa for a birthday dinner celebration and chose to sit outside to take advantage of the beautiful weather and inviting patio atmosphere. The setting was lovely and set the stage for what we hoped would be a great evening.
Unfortunately, the service left quite a bit to be desired. While our waitress was friendly, she was noticeably inattentive throughout the meal. With a larger group, we expected things to be a bit more challenging, but the level of attention we received fell short of what we would consider acceptable.
As for the food, all of our dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, but sadly, they arrived at the table lukewarm at best. This took away from the overall experience, especially since we were all looking forward to our meals by the time they finally arrived.
On a more positive note, the chips and salsa, along with the guacamole, were fresh and delicious – definitely a highlight. I also really enjoyed the guava margarita, which was both refreshing and tasty.
Overall, Red Mesa has potential, and I’d be open to returning – perhaps with a smaller party next time – in hopes of a better service experience.

The shrimp and mahi tacos were particularly delicious! The marinated chicken was piled atop the barbacoa. hardly any fillers.
A college campus is nearby. Young servers who are capable of shaving, getting their hair cut, and maintaining personal hygiene are highly valued. This, in my opinion, is a management issue.
Overall, it’s worth going back for the location, food, and service!

Pretty disappointed for my first time trying and probably won’t try again. I ordered during lunch, it was not busy at all when I arrived. The servers were nice. This is what I received. I assumed the meat got shuffled around from me carrying the bag but even after splitting the meat as you can see there was still minimal on each taco. I’ve also never had steak tacos with onions and bell peppers that’s usually for fajitas… the meat was chewy and had this weird flavor to it. Rice was bland but the beans were the most enjoyable part of the meal.

Food was good. Service was slow. We were a large group (20) however only 2 tables outside and another 2 inside, the rest was empty and it took the server a long time to come and take food orders. The restaurant, patio, and rooftop are beautiful. I you are averse to onions and peppers, know that in some of the dishes they have pre-prepped meat with veggies and you are unable to remove.

This place is a hidden gem. After walking for a while I told myself I would stop at the first restaurant I saw. So glad it was the first one I saw. The food was delicious and fresh! The drinks were really good too. The bartender Sarah made an amazing drink (Mango Tango). Atmosphere was really cute and inviting. Can’t wait to go back again, probably tomorrow.

Next Vibe, beautiful outdoor seating and service is excellent. Downtown location, so expect downtown prices. No free chips and the food is decent.

Had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious- every dish we tried was full of flavor. We also sampled three different types of margaritas, and each one was fantastic in its own way. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a night out. On top of all that, the service was excellent-friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!

Everything is better with family. This restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening, while in the afternoon it’s ideal for sharing with family or even enjoying on your own. I loved the décor, the spotless details, and the beautiful view that makes the place feel even more special. I highly recommend the sangria—it’s delicious and so refreshing.
