I never seen our table so full of chaos you know when a waitress comes to the table they pick up whatever’s already done. We no longer need it. The whole table had so much stuff piled up on it. It was Ridiculous. On top of that, they try to short us on a piece of lobster. They gave us a piece that had no lobster meat in it. Everything we waited for a long time. There wasn’t many people in the restaurant. So if you go while people are being trained, you’re probably gonna have the same problem. And this is our favorite location to go to, but I think this will be the last time we will be visiting it. And it’s usually 4 to 5 people when we go so you know that check is going to be pretty big. I wish I would’ve took a picture of how our table looked.
The prices have really gone up, which I was willing to pay, especially for the nostalgia aspect, however, the quality of the food has unfortunately gone in the opposite trajectory. I can only speak for myself: I haven’t had crab legs for a few years so I was really looking forward to my favorite indulgence, but… oh so underwhelming: small clusters, mildly warm – not hot, and didn’t crack open well. They were very bendy. 100 percent not the quality I remember.
And their biscuits were always to die for, but the taste was off – too spongy – again, not at all like I remember. I’d suggest maybe linen napkins to tuck the biscuits into instead of paper napkins? Stuffed mushrooms (starters) were bland and the mushroom cap itself tasted undercooked. I could go on, but I’ll leave it at this: quality of food does not match pricepoint, HOWEVER.
What saved the experience was our server, Chris. She had personality, was friendly and attentive, yet gave us space, and was overall amazing. She made the birthday even more special by bringing out a sundae with a candle and getting everyone to sing along with Happy Birthday. So we had a good time, enjoyed the more casual, unassuming ambiance, and enjoyed the level of Service. I did notice their nice bar area which was new since I visited last (Bartender made a great Margarita Flight), so because of my experience with our server, I’ll be back to enjoy a cocktail with friends and give them another shot, you know, in the spirit of nostalgia.
Thank you to Chris for making our experience enjoyable!
The food was also delicious the shrimp scampi was my favorite, the favorite shrimp was great as well as was the coconut shrimp.
The biscuits are always heaven!
And yall!!! The price!!! Less than $40 for two people!!!
I saw they also have happy hour and weekday deals!
They must think they’re the only ones that serve sea food. Lots of other places have GOOD service and give you what you WANT, and they don’t play games with you. It took forever to get the RICE with shrimp. I wasn’t going to wait another 25 minutes. I would NOT recommend that place!! Not to mention the other jerk who tells you where to sit had me sit right next to a table that had 2 families with a bunch of noisy kids. I had to get up and move. There were lots of other booths he could have told me to sit at. I didn’t go to baby sit noisy kids. Terrible place to go to. The Red Lobster location is at 4401 N Cumberland in Norridge Il 60706.
Even after our parents passed, my siblings and I continued to dine there—not as frequently, but still holding on to those memories tied to every meal. Recently, we heard the news about Red Lobster filing for bankruptcy and bringing on a new CEO. It was bittersweet. We started talking about bringing our tradition back, just to hold onto a piece of our family history.
Then came an unexpected and welcome surprise: seafood boil bags were added to the menu. There were only two options, each with its own flavor profile, and while they were definitely on the pricier side, they were a pleasant change. It gave us a little spark of hope—maybe Red Lobster is trying to reinvent itself and stay in the game.
I’m optimistic about what’s to come. If they continue in this direction, they might just win back some of the love they’ve lost over the years. Either way, I’ll definitely be back to support. Some traditions are worth preserving.
***one note**
Our food didn’t come out at the same time. They were at least 3-5 min apart. Not great service, though our waitress was very friendly and attentive.
