Simply the best croissant on the planet. And an impressive assortment of other baked goods and pastries. It’s incredible. I mean it. I’m not exaggerating.

As someone who eats A LOT of pastries…this is hands down the best bakery in Vermont. Not only that, but they source from local farms as often as possible and employ the kindest people. It’s always a good day when it starts at Red House (plus they share space with Catalyst Coffee Bar which has delicious drink options!!!)

We are so grateful to have Red House Sweets in our neighborhood. Their Maple Cheesecake is a particular favorite of ours and chose it as our wedding cake! Make the drive. Try something different. It’s always worth it.

Phenomenal food and quick service. It’s adjacency to the coffee bar makes this the perfect place for a drink and breakfast or just a sweet treat. They also have a great selection of breads and savory goods.

A place where the only thing that could be more delicious than the product are the persons. This is a truly unique bakery, not just in the northern part of the state but in the state as a whole; other places have their distinct flavor, but few seem to have mastered so many flavors under one roof. They do savory as well as sweet, sugar as well as spice, fruit as well as vegetable, meat as well as cheese. And speaking of unique flavors, the flavor of kindness shared by those behind the counter is as unique as what they make. More than just smiling faces, the people at Red House are funny, personable, and genuinely friendly in a way that’s scarce in customer service. If you’ve been good, treat yourself (perhaps an apple pie croissant?). If you’ve been bad, indulge a little (it’s looking like a fruit tart kind of day!). If you’re hungry, you can’t make a better choice. Did I mention their lunch options?

Red House Sweets and Catalyst Coffee Bar are by far the ultimate combo – if you’re looking for some of the BEST pastries you have ever tasted as well as the best coffee anywhere in this whole area of Vermont, look no further!! Both places share the same space with separate counters, and you’re going to want to get things from both. Red House Sweets has an amazing selection of pastries and desserts, and many gluten-free options as well! I absolutely love the orange cardamom croissant – I don’t know what they do to make it, but it’s definitely in the top 5 best single pastries I have ever had in my whole life. I also love their kouign-amann as well!! These are both must-trys if you’re looking for something sweet. Honestly though, everything looks incredible. All the croissants, the focaccia, cakes, tarts, and so on would be so worth trying. I guess I gotta keep coming back to try it all!! Also, I want to give a special nod to the person working behind the counter. She was so upbeat and friendly and made the vibe of the place so much better. This place really is something special and I highly recommend visiting next time you’re in St. Albans!!!
EDIT: We finally came back after waiting a whole year to come to Vermont – Red House Sweets was just as good as we remembered! Absolutely phenomenal place – this will be a tradition for us every summer! Maddy (I think that’s her name) was still there and still as awesome as she was last year. You need to come here!!

Finally got to go in this hidden gem of Saint Albans. Friendly and very lively staff. She got all excited when I told her it’s my first time. Lots of choices to choose from. Nice atmosphere. Definitely a must try if you’re in town.

Truly incomparable, not just for Vermont, but really anywhere. We don’t live in Vermont, but have a lot of ties there so do end up spending quite a bit of time in Saint Albans every year, and Red House Sweets is a must stop for me every time. I get so excited just thinking about the next time we can stop in. The pastries are impeccably made and gorgeous. I haven’t found a croissant I enjoy more than the ones from RHS. My most recent visit introduced me to the Kouign-amann, which might be my new favorite pastry. The bread, the quiche, the danishes, the muffins, the rolls, the desserts — you will not go wrong with anything here. Their partnership with Catalyst Coffee next door is genius, because the only thing that makes these baked goods better is being able to enjoy them with a coffee.

How in the world does this place only have 100 reviews?
My friend lives nearby and knew I had to check this place out when I came to visit. She was totally right.
The selection of pastries, pies, cakes, quiches, and other baked goods was amazing! However, she said I HAD to have the breakfast galette since they don’t have them every day and sell out pretty quick.
The galette was not only delicious but a MONSTER as well. It’s filled with potatoes, onions, peppers, and topped with an egg. The crust was nice and crunchy on the outside too. I was absolutely stuffed after having one.
I only wish I lived closer so I could try all of their goodies!
