Loved this place overall! The nachos appetizer was a little disappointing because of the fake cheese but the actual meals were great! My salad and salmon were delicious. My partner’s steak was cooked and seasoned well. Our dog was treated with kindness and got to sit with us outside. If you’re around the area this is a great place to eat after a fun day out.

Man listen! When I tell you the head chef moose ain’t no joke! Please believe me! This is my second time eating at this amazing restaurant and both times I was shocked at how great the food was. Today I had the Brussel sprout ceasar salad, baby listen I didn’t expect it to taste that good. I even closed my eyes! Please go to the red house! Their staff is so hospitable! 10 out of 10 I recommend.

Food is always on point, been here several times, recently had the special friend chicken with potato salad, very well done, speaking as someone who only loves southern fried chicken. And the potato salad definitely elevated and top 3 I’ve had. A must try place friendly to all age groups and taste palates. Great selection of local craft beverages and great bartenders.

Recently my wife and I went to the Red House on a recommendation from a nearby BNB . It didn’t disappoint. We usually like to sit at a quiet bar or sit alone in a corner. ( We are over 70 and like quiet.) The bar was packed and the dinning room was booked so we sat outside alone except for the awesome weather. We planned to have only a drink or two because we had a late lunch. Things changed rapidly from our plans. Falan was our waitress and she made it so comfortable that we had to stay, have appetizers and a few of the special house drinks. Everything was perfect, we thought, until a female sat down at the table across from us and we indulged in a conversation. Soon a male sat down across from her and we engaged more. It turned out they were the owners of the place. The tone was set by Falan but it continued. We had some awesome appetizers and an incredible “THE gin and tonic”. By the time we left I ordered, from Amazon, the tonic they used. Until this day I want to continue the vibe of the place. We plan to go back to Deep River again for the weekend to just see Falan, Mark and Abbey. They made our weekend away even more special than we imagined.

Red House is much more than a burger/bar joint. Their menu is quite diverse with some really sophisticated dishes. The specials stretch the chef’s abilities even further. Super friendly, yet professional proprietors and staff. Comfortable atmosphere and great sidewalk dining in season. A 10 minute drive from any point in Saybrook to Chester.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We received really good information about what to do in the area, Beth was a gold mine of information and so friendly! The food was excellent and the cocktails fantastic. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
