This place feels very local with a regular group of lunch and dinner loyalists. Very relaxed where staff remember faces. Once a drive through Chinese restaurant this place was repurposed years ago and made their lane. A small counter bar area surrounded by hi tables and booths this is comfort food from burgers to a wide range of seafood options. Worth a visit.

I had an absolutely incredible lunch at The Red Grouper Tavern! The cold lobster roll was one of the best I’ve had in Florida—fresh and perfectly prepared. The grouper bites were delicious, and the hand-battered onion rings were crispy and golden perfection. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. The menu had plenty of intriguing options and our group loved everything we tried. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Venice and craving great seafood!

We stopped in here today on our way from Fort Myers. This place doesn’t look like a lot on the outside but LET ME TELL YOU – the parking lot was packed when we go there at 1:30 on a Sunday. The inside is completely renovated and modern. There was one server working to wait on all the tables in the restaurant and honestly – I don’t know how he did it. We barely waited and we ate quickly! We tried the sleeve of gulf balls, original grouper sandwich and the grouper Ruben sandwich. We were blown away by everything. Every sauce tasted fresh. The pickles on the original grouper appeared to be house made and everything was HOT. I am a foodie and a good cook. I have never thought about making a fish – based Ruben and I can tell you, I’ll be dreaming of it from here on out. I can’t say again enough how impressed we were. If you’re in the area- STOP HERE and eat! The only reason we found this place was from other google reviews so I wanted to leave one today to be like “that’s accurate”. Great place.

Don’t let the front of the building fool you. Everything was great from our server Eric to Red Grouper Bites, Coconut Shrimp, Scallops and the Buffalo wings. Everything is homemade and good. Jim one of the owners stopped by our table and talked to us. Very friendly and relaxed vibe.
We will definitely be back when we are in Venice.

We have visited this establishment several times and it is a place for the most part we thoroughly enjoyed. But when we went this last time it was a little disappointing first off we ordered 2 glasses of wine, a bowl and a cup of chowder, we always split the big fish haddock sandwich and up graded this time to onion rings as a side..we were told by our waitress there would be a $5. Split plate charge for the fish sandwich and $2.99 for the update grade of onion rings which was a total of 4 onion rings on the plate seriously!
They ended up waiving the plate charge as they should of our bill was 78.plus dollars!
It is not like we went in there and had 2 waters and split a sandwich…it will be a while before we revisit this establishment!

We tried Red Grouper tonight after reading many positive Facebook reviews, and weren’t disappointed. Daniel was our server, and he did an excellent job. We ordered the potato chip appetizer, and lobster special & grouper fish and chips entrees. The potato chips were served with blue cheese & ranch dipping sauces. The hot fresh chips were delicious and vanished quickly. My lobster was perfectly cooked, as were the fish and chips. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stopped for a quick lunch and enjoyed it immensely! Had a chicken Caesar wrap and fish and chips, both were very good. But the server and atmosphere were what we enjoyed the most! Eric was very attentive and we enjoyed our visit with him. Will stop again when in the area!

I’m glad we decided to try a different place. We have some favorite restaurants on the area for when we come down for vacation and now we’ve added a new place. My wife got the shrimp sandwich and enjoyed it very much. I ordered the beer battered cod fish. It was fried perfectly. Nice and crispy. The fish was flaky and delicious. Great stuff. The place was decorated very well. The waitresses were very nice and helpful.

I tried the House Specialty, the Shrimp Burger which features a crab cake style shrimp pattie, with fries and slaw and old bay mayo on side. It was really good and unique. My husband chose the beer battered cod and stuffed himself. Sweet Tea was on point! We both also had added side salads with house made ranch, which in hind sight was too much to eat in all, but dang that ranch is good so I’m not mad I added it!
Can’t wait to visit again. I would love to try other food options next time!
