I enjoy my dinner. The food was very good. If spicy food is your thing, this is your place. Also, ask for the Kingfisher Beer. You will need it. Curry Fish was my order and I enjoyed the spicy fish and the beer. One thing that could be improved would be the loudness of the room. It seemed the tile floor or something helped to make the room more noisy that it should be. However I enjoyed my visit. I would eat here again.

This is easily one of the best Indian food spots in the DSM area. I’ve tried several of their curries, and every one has been consistently flavorful and well-prepared. What really sets them apart is their heat scale – when they say “extra hot,” they mean it. The extra hot vindaloo brought a serious fire (and a satisfying sweat), while the medium tikka masala was mild and creamy with just a touch of warmth. The hot butter chicken had a nice kick, mellowed by its rich, creamy buttery sauce.
Appetizers are excellent too. The samosas are huge and packed with flavor. I’d love to see the naan a bit thicker and more charred and bubbly (That’s what I’m used to in the UK), as is the roti is a solid alternative and great value. There’s also a rice dish that’s massive, fragrant, and loaded with perfectly cooked meat. It’s bold and aromatic – maybe a bit much for some, but it’s a repeat favorite in my group- though the name escapes me.
Service is attentive too, portions are reasonable, and the flavours are legit. This is the place to go if you want your spice to mean something.

Came in and got the Thali Special, and I was treated to an incredible meal. They do a terrific job, food was hot and fresh, quickly served, and the perfect spice (I ordered Spicy). Do yourself a favor and come out here for a Mango Lassi and a delicious meal!

Absolutely amazing experience at Red Chillez Indian Cusine
Red Chillez is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants in Ankeny. The food is incredibly flavorful, authentic, and freshly prepared. Every dish we tried was rich in taste and perfectly spiced.
The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. They took the time to explain the menu and made great recommendations based on our preferences.
Portion sizes are generous, prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistently top-notch. Whether you love spicy food or prefer mild flavors, Red Chillez has something for everyone.
Highly recommend this place to anyone craving real Indian cuisine. We will definitely be coming back again and again!

The wait staff and owners are accommodating, the restaurant is inviting and cozy and most importantly very open to anyone who may have any kind of food, allergies that was a question that I was asked immediately by their staff. I wanted to put that in there because so often our restaurants don’t pay attention sometimes or don’t have time to pay attention to those things that are so important to us. If you don’t understand their menu please please ask them to explain. So have been missing Indian cuisine and feel like we have a real gem here in Ankeny now. Thanks to all staff tonight for a wonderful meal.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant three times, and ordered the same dish three times, with two extremely different experiences.
Every visit, starting with my first in October 2025. I ordered a Lamb Saag. This is not on the menu, although other meat saags are listed. At this first visit, the kitchen responded with a wonderful, authentic, perfectly flavored curry with exactly the right consistency. This was outstanding in every respect, and if they could reproduce this, they would earn my business weekly.
My second and third visits, I ordered the same. On both occasions, the kitchen merely threw some generic curry, most likely tikka masala, into the blender with some spinach to give it a green color. The color does not a saag make. Both examples were lacking in the flavor and the sophistication that is the hallmark of a good saag. After such an excellent first visit, these follow-ups were very disappointing.
I visited three times hoping my second experience was the exception, but apparently I got lucky my first visit only. The dishes are too expensive to gamble on whether the chef of the day actually cares about what comes out of the kitchen.

This place is an absolute hidden GEM. From the moment we walked in, we instantly experienced the mouth-watering scents of savory spice. Everything about this place is absolutely incredible. The FOOD. Omg the FOOD. Unbelievably good. The best Indian restaurant in Iowa by far. The butter chicken is so tender and delicious. Out of this world good. The naan bread is so tasty. The dessert was heavenly. We are treated like royalty every time we come in. Always so attentive and friendly. 11/10 couldn’t recommend more!!! We can’t wait to come back!

Great experience all around. Food came out hot and quick. Flavor was solid. I appreciated that they had different heat levels and that they actually follow them. Our waiter was friendly and they made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. We will definitely be back!

Food is amazing! Slow lunch hour so our waiter wasn’t as attentive as I would have liked, but still good. Large servings and so flavorful!! Very comfortable seating and atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Amazing cuisine, service, atmosphere and value for dollar. I was surprised at the cleanliness of this restaurant. The owners, we constantly cleaning – nothing out of place. The server was so attentive. Our total bill was only $55 and we were full. I suggest trying the butter chicken, samosas and naan. The meal also comes with a free mango curd dessert. Great touch.
