My nephew’s favorite food is fajita nachos, and he prefers them from Red Cactus Southport.
We were just grabbing a quick bite so we arrived before the dinner rush. Looking through their HUGE menu we ordered:
Steak Fajita Nachos
Steak Fajita Chimichanga
Their salsa was better, and spicier, than I remembered. Our food arrived in what had to be record time.
I watched as my nephew’s pile of nachos were quickly reduced to scraps. Of course he loved them.
My chimichanga was satisfactory. The steak was juicy and I liked the queso topping. The rice and beans, on the other hand, provided very little flavor.
Service was right down the middle. Prices were on the higher side.
I left feeling very neutral about the experience. And that’s how I’ve felt about all of my visits there. It isn’t bad, but nothing has been great, either. ♂️

We were staying at the hotel connected to the restaurant. We went in for a drink, appetizers, and a good dinner. The server was pretty obviously new but was great! We were a little scattered since one of us left their ID in the hotel room. While he ran to get it I decided on appetizers and a drink for me. When my friend got back he got a margarita and we ordered dinner. He went to take a taste of my drink and immediately the manger came up and freaked out about not having two drinks in front of him. I understand that’s a law so I quickly took my drink back and apologized. For the next ten minutes the manager stood a few feet from our table and watched and listened to everything we did. Another server came to our table. As I was about to ask for our dinner to be packed to go, she informed us that our dinner and appetizers would be packed to go. That server and manager continued to stand right by our table for the remainder of the time. We were happy, kind, and understanding. Being watched at a restaurant is highly uncomfortable. We were there to enjoy a meal and chat. No part of our time was private. There was no reason for the extreme behavior on the managers part. I’ve served for over a decade and am very understanding towards staff and their jobs. Being told we had to leave and that our food was already being packed up to go was rude, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Especially with no reason given. The food was ok. But the ribs that were ordered had been cooked in plastic. It was wrapped in plastic as if it had been prepped and set aside until it was ordered. The plastic was melted to parts of the ribs. The appetizers were incorrect as well. The entirety of everything was a huge let down.

Most recent review: We’ve been here a couple times since the last post and I’m happy to report, they’ve redeemed themselves. Food has been much better, service has been excellent. Even the gentleman at the register seemed fairly pleasant the last time we were there. I’m glad, I really like their food!
Recent Updated Post: We have been coming here for a while now and we have always enjoyed it, but this last time was awful. First of all, I don’t know who the guy is that sits at the register, but he’s extremely rude and has been the last couple times we’ve been.
During our last visit we ordered the carnitas, it was almost all gristle, fat and we even found a piece of bone. Our bill was $50+ and in all honesty, it was so bad it wasn’t worth $20, the dips were runny, there was a spoonful of beans and a huge pile of rice on the plate. Just not up to par at all. We won’t be going back for a while, hopefully that will give them time to get their act back together.
OP: Delicious Mexican food! The Carnitas were excellent, great flavor! Service was good, salsa and chips were on point, guacamole tasty! Highly recommend, we will be back!

My co-worker told me he found this restaurant, so it was another 1st timer. This a very nice place on the inside, it’s very environment friendly. As soon as we walked in, we were seated. They have plenty of seating on the inside, as well as the outside. The staff is very friendly, and the service was excellent. The food was top notch, and the pricing is reasonable, it’s definitely worth going back too again.

We loved everything. The service was quick. I liked that the waitress was attentive to my water glass and offered more when I was getting low. Nice sized portions from the lunch menu. I though the pico was really good.

First time eating at Red Cactus. Ordered the fajitas, along with their queso. Food was very good. Nice presentation and delivered on a steaming skillet along with fixings. Nice decor and music made it a festive environment. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Staff was exceptionally nice and interacted with my toddler grandchildren during checkout.

The food was good. I was surprised at how fast our order came out. I would probably give this place an overall 4 stars, but I was very disrespected by our waiter. Before leaving, I went to the restroom. While in there, the waiter tried to get my girlfriend’s phone number! I knew something was wrong when I returned. She was embarrassed, and waited to tell me after we left.
So if you eat here, be cautious if you leave your woman alone to use the restroom. The little 4 ft guy with glasses will try to steal your girl. We won’t be returning to this place.

Fruity Dyno Bites
Wasn’t expecting this restaurant to be so nice. But walking in the interior was beautiful. The servers were friendly and not over attentive which i appreciated. I ordered a shrimp and crab salad and my husband ordered the chimichanga. The salad was very fresh and by his words, it was the best chimichanga he has had. We are definitely coming back.
