Definitely a “hole in the wall” feel (small but clean and cozy) but well worth your time to check it out. Got the 4-fish, 4-shrimp plate. More than enough food. $15 Inc a bottled soda. Comes with fries and a roll. The fish was fresh and piping hot. Not greasy at all. The fish and shrimp were cooked in a light and tasty batter. The handsome and witty manager will enhance your eating experience! A good experience. Don’t discount this restaurant when your in the mood for fresh fried fish and shrimp.

I’ve heard my girlfriend rave about the food at Red Boat, insisting I’d enjoy it. Well, she was wrong — I didn’t just like it, I absolutely loved it. As someone who appreciates quality ingredients and flavor execution, Red Boat exceeded expectations on every level.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and unpretentious — a place that puts its focus where it belongs: on the food. The seafood was impeccably fresh, perfectly seasoned, and clearly prepared with both passion and culinary precision. Every dish reflected thoughtful technique and respect for the ingredients.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, a gracious and genuinely kind gentleman who clearly takes pride in his restaurant and its reputation. It’s always refreshing to see a business run with heart and integrity.
If you’re looking for bold flavors, top-notch seafood, and an experience that speaks to both quality and care — Red Boat is a must-visit. A hidden gem that deserves all the praise it gets.

This is a nice little hidden gem. The neighborhood is questionable but the food is worth the visit. Excellent fried shrimp, fried flounder and drum are to die for, and for ONLY $10 A PLATE!! Comes with fries, roll, tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.

First time trying Red Boat Seafood. I came in just before 8p hoping to hit the drive-thru; the restaurant overview shows they have a drive-thru, but they don’t. The place was very quiet, with no other customers at the time, but the establishment smelled and looked clean. As for the food, the fish and fries were good, the shrimp was rubbery, the hushpuppies were overcooked a tad bit still good, and the tartar sauce was a bit heavy on the tang; I’m not sure if they use dill or sour pickle, but it’s tangy for sure. They were out of anything that wasn’t seafood. Overall, decent food and good price.

Update: I brought my family to try the food out. One had their shrimp boil, and the other two had two different kinds of plate with drum. It was good. Warning, if you are planning to eat there, it is a small area and very warm inside. But the food was good! Great food! I got the special, 6 shrimp and fish. The shrimp were large size and in a mixture of cornmeal and flour type of breading. The fish was Drum fish in a cornmeal type of breading, nicely fried where the tips were crunchy but the fish was not over fried. The waffle fries could have been a little better and not just placed in the tray for the fish and shrimp to drain. Very professional way of ordering, given a restaurant beeper that vibrated when food was done. Only one man managing the front slipping behind the door to grab orders.

Shrimp were cooked rock hard. Everything was over seasoned. Really heavy on the salt. The ketchup on the table was gross. Hadn’t been washed in a long time. After the first bite we should have returned the food and gotten our money back. No wheelchair ramp. When previous review said shrimp could be rubbery, believe it over the reviews that shrimp are great. I very seldom write a negative review but when you pay $17 for an inedible piece of fish and overcooked to the point of stone, people need to be advised. Isn’t it illegal to not have wheelchair access?

A good price overall score 3-3.5 While the hushpuppy seemed to be overcooked it was not just a bit dark .
The fish, clean flavor a little bland there was salt but could of used something else the batter was well portioned and correctly fried not dried out like boat and net used to be when it was still on this side of town. Drinks they were out of cokes but that could happen to anyone .
Tonality of service I wanted to know how much their loaded fries cost and the guy is like “it’s RIGHT there ” I was under the impression based on the menu that the loaded fries and the steak and shrimp were separated options he didn’t need to be rude it wasn’t extremely rude but rude , or maybe that’s just his usual tone don’t know

Ordered the fish and shrimp plate, the fish was probably underbelly meat, was very small, and the batter was SUPER salty. Everything was over fried. Hushpuppies were very plain.
On a good note, the food was fresh out of the oil, and service was fast.

My shrimp was the favorite part! Tarter sauce was delicious. Was expecting waffle fries but maybe they changed their fries. Corn was a little bland and dry but I would definitely go back and explore the menu. Oh and I LOVED the rolls!
