The Roost is home to the fourth Red Apron location – a creative collaboration between Chef Nathan Anda, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, and a handful of dedicated regional farmers. Red Apron is a locally sourced whole animal butcher and small-batch producer of handcrafted charcuterie and fine provisions. The Roost’s shop features its own unique spin on the concept, with newfangled renditions of classic dishes all complemented by the largest and most comprehensive charcuterie program in the country. At this time, there is no walk-up service for Red Apron. Find an established pick-up area for carryout orders, or order while seated at Shelter!
Trendy, whole-animal butcher offering sandwiches & charcuterie, plus beer & wine.

Reviews
As expected, their burgers are stupendous. I tried two of their more notable burgers and they were both delicious.
RED APRON ORIGINAL (2 Smash Patt ies, American Cheese, Island Sauce, House Pickles, Red Onion & Shredded Le ttuce) – really quality burger meat, fresh trimmings and their island sauce puts it over the top. A+.
PIMENTO BURGER (2 Smash Pa tties, Bacon, Tomato Jam, and Pimento Cheese) – it’s all about the pimento cheese and tomato jam that’s lathered onto this burger. If you’re a pimento cheese fan, you’ll love this burger.
Service was friendly and kind, which made it even a better experience. They brought a carafe of water, cutlery and a cloth napkin outside where I was sitting. Love the Roost and Red Apron fits right in
I don’t know if it’s new management, cost cutting, or what, but I really hope y’all switch back to loading up your food (and cooking it) like you used to.
Red Apron used to offer the best fries in DC, but since they changed their recipe, the fries are the second best (second only to the memory of the old recipe. I also highly recommend the pancake hamburger.
