But after what happened today, I don’t think I would ever go back to spend money with them. They probably don’t care either but I just want to share my experience. Hopefully they change how they run their business.
I ordered a soy bean paste soup, spicy beef bulgogi and a kimbap. The total came out to 65.10$. excluding tip. Not cheap at all but I like supporting locals. But not anymore after how I was treated.
My soybean paste soup came. It tasted and smell like rotten socks, stinky feet and dead animal. I’ve had from them before and other restaurant but it never tasted or smell like that. I understand it’s made out of fermented soy bean paste but that was next level fermented and just pure rotten. It was way too fermented. I immediately let the server/owner of Seoul restaurant know right away. She explained that their soy bean paste is not like Japanese soy-bean miso style soup. It’s stronger. I told her that it’s not that. It’s just so fermented to the point where it smells like stinky feet, just not edible. So i proceeded to ask her if I could switch to something else? I was very polite to her and so was she to me. She did tell me she was going to dilute it for me. So basically just add more water to make it less stinky? I was lost for words. She did not want to switch anything for me. Just offer to add more water and reheat it. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. The soy bean is way too fermented. She was firmly defensive about her paste being strong.
Also no matter how much water she was going to re-add in the bowl, it’s still not going to make the super stinky rotten taste and smell disappear. Her total cost of making the soup was probably 3 to 4$ and she charged $20 for a small bowl soup and just doesn’t offer to switch anything new for me when it wasn’t made right, is diabolical. They will not lose money by making me another 3-4$ soup. But this is how they choose to run their business. It’s just not good and I will not be returning or spending money with them. She kept saying she isn’t the owner though they are family and she also has a say in it. But she was going to ask the cook, which is the owner.
I already knew the answer when she came back from the back. It was a hard no. Lol. she told me she can’t change or switch nothing for me. Because that’s how they make it. It just left with a bad taste in my mouth and I just won’t be coming back no matter how much i crave for Korean food. It’s just how they choose to run their business that just turn me off. I will drive to New Orleans rather than spending with greedy small business people like them.
The way they run their restaurant is like this. if something came out tasted like crap and you let them immediately about it being off. They will not care. They will not offer to switch anything new for you. They will tell you that how they are made. They will get defensive. That’s a big no no. It’s business 101. No one runs business like that. No one will keep going to you if you’re going to run your business like that. Being defensive and greedy.
I don’t understand what type of business moto are they running. if I was the owner and my customer came and told me there is something wrong with the food, I would switch it right away without hesitation. Will not get defensive about it either. Just simple business 101.
