The food was good! The prices were awesome! Our family of 4 ate for around $25 for lunch! We had the half order of chili cheese fries, 2 kids meals, and the double cheeseburger with fries special. The staff was friendly! The dinner is older so it’s a little packed but we will be back!

Awesome old town dinner vibes. Food made to order right in front of you on the smallest well seasoned grill. One of the best breakfasts you can get in KC. The quality doesn’t match the price. This place is a bargain with top notch food! Highly recommended the biscuits and gravy add extra sausage or if it’s lunch time get you a few burgers! You’ll also want a few to take with you on the road.

Ray’s Diner is a delightful spot that I wish stayed open longer! My daughter and I stopped by during a shopping trip, and we were thoroughly impressed. Their lunch offerings are truly delicious. The food was so good that it made our outing even more special.
The diner has an old-fashioned setting inside and is a bit worn down, but that doesn’t take away from the fantastic service and food. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff added to the experience, making it a place we’ll definitely return to. If you’re in the area and looking for a great lunch spot, Ray’s Diner is a must-visit. Just be sure to check their hours so you don’t miss out on this gem!
Update! Came in a couple years later with a different daughter. Not the same experience but still lovely. We ordered a double cheeseburger and the special (Philly steak sandwich) I ordered it with onion rings and my daughter ordered it with fries. You get a whole basket of awesome fries compared to 4 measly onion rings (see photos) and you pay more for onion rings (maybe I got half but didn’t ask for half) who knows but it was good.

First time visiting in 20 years. Used to visit a lot when I lived closer. Service was great and they do a big volume. Quick and very reasonable prices. We had burgers, onion rings and fries. Unfortunately you could taste old grease on the fried foods and they were very dark. Another indication grease is old. Meat in the burgers was very stringy. Was really excited about going and raved to the 2 friends I took with me. So it was disappointing on the food. But its nostalgic and I’ve been going there for 40 years so I will give them another try next time I’m in Excelsior.

This place is everything you want in a family run diner. Solid food great coffee and friendly and fast service. It’s small but seats about 15-20. Loved the entire experience!

It a small diner that takes you back in time. Its beautiful and adorable. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is so friendly and kind. They were quick to get food out for both me and my husband. We both got a cheeseburger with half an order of onion rings, and a drink all for a little under $14. It is really good food and I know we will come back to this spot to enjoy again.

No. Way! There is no way this place makes this amazing food (cheeseburger and fries) on their simple little grill, and enhances the atmosphere with a no frills no fancy attitude.
Don’t go here for something quick, good food takes time.
Don’t go here with a party bigger than 5, they done have tables that big, our group of 6 sat at the antique and retro bar.
Once you do get your food, it’s a pure mouthgasm.

This place is amazing. It takes you back in time. The nostalgic atmosphere is something to take in and the smell of fresh cooked burgers and fries fills the air as soon as you walk in. There is a cage register that’s original from the 1940s and the food is like mom cooked it.

What a great little gem right in downtown Excelsior Springs!
It’s super small and cozy. The food was fantastic. It’s made right out in the open on a flattop. The prices are crazy low. Don’t go thinking you’ll get a seat because it’s popular with locals but it’s sure worth the wait!
