We had our very first omakase experience here, and honestly… it set the bar HIGH. Every single dish was unforgettable. All the tuna cuts were my absolute favorites — melt-in-your-mouth perfection. And the two broth dishes? One cold, one warm, both packed with so much flavor. The noodles were hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life.
The atmosphere felt like stepping into someone’s cozy, beautiful living room. It was intimate, warm, and the lighting set the perfect mood. Even the plateware and sake glasses were stunning — some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. I loved how they switched out the glasses depending on the type of sake — such a thoughtful touch.
The sake pairing is also an absolute must. I was never a “sake person,” but this pairing completely changed my mind. They’re incredibly knowledgeable and selected each pour so intentionally that every sip matched perfectly with each piece of sushi. It truly elevated the entire experience.
The chef was incredibly attentive. He heard every comment we made, listened to what we loved and what we liked a little less, and even added small personal touches to certain pieces to make sure each bite matched our preferences. It felt so intentional and customized in the best way.
We went for our 10-year anniversary, and they had a personalized card waiting at our seats — such a sweet, thoughtful surprise. At the end, they gifted us a small, personal item that made the night feel even more special.
For the level of care, attention, and warmth we received, it honestly felt like we were invited into their home — like we were in their living room sharing a meal they truly cared about. The money we spent didn’t even feel like enough compared to the experience we got.
Absolutely unforgettable. We’ll be talking about this for a long time.
The way the fish were cut and prepared really showed their skill. There was a good balance of flavors and dishes so the flavor variety kept it interesting. I especially loved the salmon toro and the akami tuna which melted in our mouth.
It is well worth the money for the food and experience for a special night. Not overly pretentious and a smart casual dress code makes this an inviting place to have a good meal.
Definitely check it out!!
A wonderful omakase at $150 and another great Omakase available to the DC area! Looking forward to coming back.
The omakase bar just opened in the fall of 2024 upstairs from their main sushi restaurant, and they’ve created something truly special. They offer two seatings each night at 6:00 PM and 8:15 PM—we opted for the 6:00 PM seating on a Friday night, which allowed for a relaxed and immersive experience.
The fish, sourced directly from Japan, was presented with full transparency on its origin and timing. Having done many omakases before, I appreciated how well he explained everything, and some pieces were truly unique. We ended up with 22 courses, including additions from the chef, making it an incredible value.
Standouts for me were the Chu Toro, monkfish liver course, A5 Wagyu, and Uni—all melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The fish soup and noodles at the end were comforting, and the corn ice cream was so unique and delicious that I ate it way too fast. Everything was pristinely clean, from the workspace to the dishware. I especially loved the bowls and the way the knives were integrated into the wall decor.
A nice touch was being given a pen so I could take notes throughout the meal—it made it easy to remember details about each course and added to the experience.
Drinks were just as well thought out—we had the Dassai 23 Junmai Daiginjo sake, which was smooth, light, and slightly sweet. They also offer a wine and sake pairing with generous pours, making it a great option for next time.
The location is convenient near Logan Circle, and while we Ubered, there seemed to be plenty of street parking. Service was impeccable—my water cup was always full, and the staff was attentive without being intrusive.
As someone who absolutely loves sushi, this omakase reminded me why—it was a series of melt-in-your-mouth moments that made me giggle and smile throughout the meal. 100% worth it, and I would absolutely go again!
The food was fresh, aesthetically pleasing and delicious. Chef Johnny prepares it all right in front of you. He explains everything in detail and is happy to chat about particulars if that’s your thing.
On our visit he invited us for a little glass of whisky after dinner to talk shop. Best sushi and service I’ve had in DC.
