placed a takeaway order for poppadoms, aubergine curry, and a coriander naan, and everything was delicious. The food was fresh, flavourful, and really well made. I collected the order myself and everything was packed nicely. I’d definitely order from here again!

We’d heard so many good things about Raval and finally managed to get a booking a couple of months in advance. It’s not the easiest place to get into on busy dates, so we were really looking forward to it.

We were booked for 6:30pm but ended up arriving closer to 7pm after struggling to get a taxi. We were a bit worried because it was such a busy night, but they were really understanding and got us seated without any issue. We didn’t feel rushed at all, which we really appreciated.

The place had a great atmosphere — lively but still felt special. The food was honestly fantastic, full of flavour and beautifully presented. It’s definitely up there with the best Indian meals we’ve had.

This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back. Already looking forward to trying the tasting menu next time.

Five stars from us.

We are here on holiday. We are from Glasgow. We had the two course early evening menu for £19.95. I couldn’t believe how friendly the staff were. When they heard our accents and chatted away. The food was delicious, very tasty. I would recommend this lovely restaurant.

Well you know… we booked 5 months in advance for valentines night, booked at 8pm, got temp seated next to downstairs bar for an hour without being offered a drink or told what’s going on. At 8:30 I tried going bar offering a drink & was told no, table nearly ready. Waited another half an hour before was taken up to table. We then immediately ordered food as was sat there for an hour reading the menu we knew what we wanted. Ordered drinks, poppadom w dips ect to come straight away. Typically they didn’t arrive and another half an hour later our mains arrived without the poppadoms nd dips ect. Overall just a pain ordering. waited to get someone’s attention to pay the bill but took so long we went back downstairs to the bar and payed there. Food was decent but service let it down.

Really nice place to stop, the waiters and waitress were all fantastic with efficient and friendly service. Managed to get a free drink out of the manager as well! The korma was slightly stronger spiced than you’ll find at a bogstandard takeaway place; the authenticity of the food was obvious even in the poppadoms and sundries. For the location, we arrived at a quiet time (6pm Thursday) and were able to be seated without a reservation and served closely by the excellent team. Syed was a pleasure!
Hoping to visit again, maybe less gin next time

We were served a vegetarian feast in a calming, welcoming environment by conscientious and attentive waitstaff at Raval. We were assisted in ordering by the manager, who guided us based on our preferences and we were not disappointed. The Batata Bonda are not to be missed—light, crispy, and perfectly savory! Otherwise, the Panch-Mel Dal was the standout of our main dish choices, although all were memorable and delicious, including vegetable biryani. Highest recommendation for both food and service!

Went with my daughter and we had a great evening. We were greeted at the door and had a seat in the lounge area. Our drinks arrived and we were offered a trio of sharing dips which were delicious. We ordered our food and were shown to our table. For starters we shared Agra Onion Bhajia and the Daja Chana Chaat. Delicious. We ordered the Nawabi Lamb Passanda and the Adoori Chicken Korma with House Pilau and Naan bread. The flavours were fantastic and the meat so tender. If your in Newcastle or Gateshead you must visit Raval. First class food and service. Highly recommended.

I booked Raval, after its multiple rewards for 14th Feb, 4some, nothing to do with Vakentines, but for myself & buddy treating our wives for Birthday celebs 10th & 12th Feb…. arrived 7.05pm for 7.30pm booking… shown table 7.12pm…. it was 7.49pm before I had to ask for a meal menu & try to order drinks…. it was then 7.47pm before we ordered drinks & 7.56 before someone took our meal order…. at no time had we been offered chutneys & poppadoms as an appertiser… in fact I had to order that when ordering meals…. 20 mins later, I had to ask where the chutneys etc were, when they eventually arrived with appologies, the starters arrived 30 secs later….. dont get me wrong…. from starter to mains… the quality of meals was epic, however, from entering, being seated til I asked for bill, no one… repeat NO ONE CAME TO TABLE TO ASK FOR A DRINKS REFRESH or to enquire if all was ok with meal… of course I complained…. on deaf ears… would I go back, perhaps, only on qual of meal, but score minus 5 out of a 1-to 10 for service sadly!
If Raval wants to contact me, feel free!

I’ve just returned from a meal here with my girlfriend. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so, so welcome. The staff we absolutely incredible.

We ordered the Royal Platter which they presented as multiple courses and they were so kind to add some complimentary poppadoms with the most delicious pickle trays I’ve ever had. They also very kindly provided some complimentary rice and garlic naan to accompany our meal. These all complemented the meal spectacularly.

When the main event arrived, spread out in a manner where we could really enjoy it, it was stunning. The lobster tasted fresh and because it was a young lobster, the meat just melted.

The meats were also good. If I had any complaint at all, it is that the seekh kebabs seemed a little overcooked. That said, the flavours were still delicious.

We debated whether we could fit a dessert in. I raised my penchant for gulab jamun at the table and when it was the first thing the lovely waiter suggested, we immediately decided to share a portion. They were served hot with ice-cream and it was delectable and just right to finish off our meal.

This is my new favourite restaurant in Tyne and Wear and we will definitely be returning. It’s also somewhere that I’ll be proud to bring business colleagues!
